Job Description
The Relationship Manager will be a member of the Strategy and Relationship Management team and be responsible for identifying and contacting prospective and current investors to market and sell Ares products. This role will work closely with other Relationship Managers as well as the Product Management teams. The Southern territory is defined as the Virginias to Florida, Texas and up to Tennessee and Kentucky.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
- Responsible for marketing all of Ares strategies to prospective and current institutional clients in the Southern region, and maintaining and developing those relationships.
- Work, support, and collaborate with the Southern regional team to effectively market Ares products across Credit, Private Equity and Real Assets Groups, including developing and executing business plans with measurable, achievable, and results-oriented goals focused on capital raising and relationship building
- Strengthen the organization’s relationships with single family offices, public and private pension plans, endowments & foundations, and corporates by developing and executing proactive, creative, and ongoing contact.
- Promote and drive awareness for Ares investment strategies to prospect/investor base through frequent meetings and discussions covering investment philosophy, process, and performance
- Work collaboratively with Global Consultant Relations team, other North America regional marketers, Product Management, Investor Relations, Investment Groups, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Finance & Accounting teams throughout marketing process
- Assess whether mandates should be broadened or changed given current/anticipated market dynamics and our collective understanding of the client’ needs
- Working in partnership with Product Management and Investor Relations teams, ensure an overall compelling and comprehensive client experience through reporting, research/white papers, due diligence/analytics, etc.
- Gather and analyze broad market intelligence to build lead pipeline and to incorporate into new and existing product development plans
- Work with other Relationship Managers as well as Product Management teams on marketing
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience preferred
Experience Required:
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Series 7 and 63 required (or obtained within 90 days of employment)
- Minimum 8+ years of related experience
- Demonstrated track record of achieving sales goals
- Previous role in sales for Asset Management Firm / Alternative Investments
- Demonstrated track record of navigating allocations from single-family offices and small to mid-size institutional investors.
- A buy-side institutional sales professional with high energy, enthusiasm, and drive
- Track record of selling diverse alternative investment products
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Deep network of professional contacts in the consultant community is a plus
- Understanding of Ares’ investment style and cultural sensitivities
- Extensive travel required

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
