About Sixth Street Asset Based Finance
Sixth Street Asset Based Finance focuses on asset/platform investing and origination across finance markets, including commercial and residential mortgages, renewables and energy finance, consumer asset classes, infrastructure debt, transportation, and commercial equipment. Our Asset Based Finance business works closely with the firm’s Insurance platform, Talcott Financial Group. The Asset Based Finance team invests across the capital structure, from IG-like risk utilizing insurance pockets and mezzanine and equity risk across various mandates and funds. Structures of transactions vary and include CUSIPs, warehouse facilities, forward flows, pool purchases, joint ventures, and more. Asset Based Finance is a key driver of our capabilities as a strategic capital partner to companies and management teams and a solutions provider at scale.
The Role
This role is an Asset Management position within the Asset Based Finance (“ABF”) business at Sixth Street. The position entails portfolio credit/risk analytics, tape cracking, valuations, and reporting, with a primary focus on asset-backed financing, securitization transactions, and lending platform investments across asset classes including mortgage, consumer, commercial, and real estate. The role also includes the build out of some of the related technical infrastructure necessary to automate and advance the related ABF applications associated with portfolio management. Candidates should have strong quantitative, interpersonal, and writing skills, superior academic credentials as well as the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Core Responsibilities
- Work with Deal Teams to transition deal information upon closing into various asset management applications and set up ongoing asset management operations, risk analytics and monitoring
- Work with Deal Teams, Operations, Accounting and others to populate and report on Pipeline/Liquidity Management, Deal Database, and other applications
- Assist with preparing and presenting materials for monthly and quarterly Portfolio Reviews and Valuation Committee Meetings
- Analyze loan pools (“tape cracking”) for asset purchases/sales or lending using CAS and/or Tableau
- Run cashflow models for portfolio reviews, valuations, accounting needs, and client reporting
- Automate portfolio monitoring and improve capturing of proprietary data. Build automated risk dashboard/packs for the ABF business
- Contribute to the development of foundational software and infrastructure that can be leveraged to scale the ABF business
- Monitor and ensure connectivity front to back with any infrastructure development
Preferred
- Knowledge of ABS asset class(es) and/or mortgage loans, and the securitization of those asset classes
- Strong quantitative and financial background (Bachelor’s or more advanced degree in a STEM field)
- At least 2+ years of coding experience in a client-centric environment, particularly in Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, C++, MATLAB, or equivalents
- Financial mathematics & capital markets experience
- Experience onboarding, evaluating, and cleaning newly acquired datasets
- Experience delivering insights (using Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI or other appropriate BI, analytics, visualization tools) from a broad range of datasets
- Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, strategic and team-oriented mindset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Commercial and Results Orientated - Ability to connect and speak clearly with technical and non-technical audiences is a must
- Team orientation and influencing skills
- High integrity and trustworthy
