About PSRS/PEERS
PSRS/PEERS is the largest defined benefit pension plan in Missouri with more than 315,000 members. We work in partnership with Missouri public school districts to provide retirement security for Missouri's public school teachers and education employees.
Most of our 173 employees work out of our recently remodeled/expanded building located at 3210 West Truman Boulevard in Jefferson City. Our office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Many positions have scheduling flexibility within those hours and the opportunity to telecommute part of the week once trained. We provide state-of-the-art technology and security, with comfortable, ergonomic working spaces and collaborative areas throughout the building. Employees enjoy ample on-site parking and a flexible, employee-focused work environment.
About the Job
As a Writer II, you will use your writing, editing and proofreading skills to assist our Senior Writer/Editor and other communications staff with the development and execution of written communication across all media.
At PSRS/PEERS, we follow AP Style and our own proprietary style guidelines and incorporate the principles of Plain English methodology.
Using these guidelines, you will research, refine and create effective copy based on input and standards set by the communications team, including drafting content for brochures, newsletters, booklets, web pages, social media, infographics, training materials, correspondence and forms. You will also work with the Web Designer and other team members on the development of videos for use on our website and in presentations.
You will be encouraged to continue to develop your writing, editing and proofreading skills and techniques while keeping up to date with new programs and tools.
Job Requirements
Our ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in a journalism, writing or communications with more than five years of related work experience and a portfolio of work. Please submit three writing samples with your resume.
