HSBC Ventures is one of the key pillars of HSBC's global innovation strategy and focuses on accelerating innovation at HSBC through strategic investments in emerging companies relevant to Financial Services.
The US based Investment Manager will principally be responsible for providing:
- Lead market research on emerging technology trends and develop investment theses
- Lead deal origination by sourcing high-quality deal flows and recommending strategic-fit investment targets in key focus areas such as AI, data, security, fintech infrastructure, and emerging technologies such as blockchain and quantum computing
- Conduct investment evaluations, prepare investment papers, perform due diligence and manage internal and external stakeholders with minimal guidance
- Support Investment Directors while demonstrating the ability to independently manage all aspects of the investment execution process including documentation, compliance, internal approvals, term negotiations, signing and closing
- Drive collaboration with business units to align investment priorities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the US startup and VC community, representing the team at both internal and external events
- Monitor investment performance and the development of portfolio companies
- Manage and mentor junior members
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $171,700 and $272,800.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements
You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

- MBA plus a Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 4+ years of investment experience in corporate venture capital, venture capital or a related field, including leading the investment execution process, conducting due diligence, negotiating terms, and securing approvals
- Additional experience in corporate development, investment banking or management consulting is a plus
- Prior experience in enterprise technology, financial markets and startups
- Strategic thinker with proficiency in market research, financial modeling, valuation and problem-solving
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including executives leadership
- Established professional network in the startup community is a significant plus
- Strong passion for innovation with an entrepreneurial mindset
