The Global Credit Risk Control (“CRC”) partners with key stakeholders across the Bank to meet business demands and adapt to an evolving regulatory environment in the US. The team is responsible for establishing internal credit ratings and counterparty limits for the portfolio, as well as overseeing the continuous monitoring of traded product and loan exposure.

The IB Commercial Lending Monitoring team manages a portfolio of Private Equity-backed leveraged loans, utilizing detailed knowledge of portfolio risks, industry developments, and business-specific factors. The team conducts thorough due diligence to ensure transactions align with UBS's risk appetite and regulatory standards. Your expertise
We are seeking an Executive Director (ED) to join our IB Commercial Lending Portfolio Monitoring team in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the Raleigh based team, assessing and managing credit risk across a portfolio of leveraged loans and corporate derivatives, and ensuring credit exposures to our counterparties is managed within the firm’s risk appetite. Ideal candidates should have extensive experience in leveraged lending, portfolio management, or in other roles related to leveraged finance capital markets. Primary responsibilities include:
- Oversee the Raleigh based team for Commercial Lending inclusive of building, training, and retaining a team of credit risk professionals. Mentor and develop junior team members, ensuring quality output and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Responsible for comprehensive credit analysis for a designated portfolio, drawing conclusions on creditworthiness, risk ratings, exposure drivers, and business prospects.
- Leading due diligence efforts, ensuring thorough risk assessments and regulatory compliance throughout the deal lifecycle.
- Responsible for any ad-hoc portfolio management reports, ensuring alignment with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Provide guidance on Shared National Credit exam-specific documents, ensuring analyses meet regulatory standards.
- Identify counterparties with deteriorating credit trends, perform monthly re-assessments, recommend watch list adjustments, and escalate specific credit concerns to senior leadership.
- Manage the corporate derivatives portfolio; oversee trading document negotiation (ISDA / CSA) and ensure adherence to the traded products risk appetite framework.
- Drive strategic projects, such as improvements to risk frameworks and risk IT infrastructure in coordination with IT, Risk Change and business functions.
- Manage and collaborate with colleagues of varying seniority and geographic locations to ensure seamless communication and execution of responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics; MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred.
- Min. of 10 years of experience in corporate credit risk or related roles within wholesale banking, with demonstrated expertise in credit risk underwriting and/or loan portfolio management and corporate derivatives.
- Extensive knowledge of financial analysis, enterprise valuation, legal documentation, and leveraged lending guidelines.
- Strong quantitative risk analysis skills, coupled with advance skills in financial modeling and complex financing structures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead due diligence processes, assess credit risks, and succinctly communicate recommendations to senior managers.
- Extensive experience with common trading documentation, particularly ISDA/CSA
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience, with the ability to foster collaboration and drive results across global teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present complex analyses to varied audiences.
