JOB DESCRIPTION
The Derivative Operations Specialist a member of the derivatives operations team broadly and assists in general operations matters with a focus on collateral/margin activities related to derivative products such as swaps, FX forwards, futures and options. Ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is self-motivated, works collaboratively with others and has an appreciation of risk processes. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
- Complete daily Initial Margin and Variation Margin activities related to ISDA collateral, exchange-traded derivatives and OTC cleared derivatives. This includes issuing calls, responding to calls, validating calls by evaluating trade exposures and market movements, reviewing posted collateral and margin holdings, coordinating with strategists and traders globally to ensure cash and securities collateral, instructing cash and security movements to custodians
- Investigate breaks and work towards resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Daily reconciliation of collateral positions, transactions, and cash with custodian banks and brokers. Daily regulatory portfolio reconciliation and data validation for derivatives regulatory reporting.
- Work on ad-hoc projects, retrieve custody reports, assist in analyzing CSDR penalty reports, respond to incoming inquiries, active role in onboarding derivatives trading and other operations related tasks
- Effective coordination and communication with derivatives operations team members in the Los Angeles and London offices
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong communication skills necessary, verbal and written
- Finance or asset management experience preferred
- Candidate must understand the details and mechanics of futures, FX forwards, and swaps (including couple cycles, coupon calculations, and credit event calculations)
- Ideal candidate has experience with Bloomberg, triOptima, and/or excel
EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in finance
