JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior CRE/CMBS Credit Analyst will be a key member of the Securitized Products Group, responsible for leading efforts related to investing within the CMBS sector. Primary responsibilities include comprehensive market coverage with a particular focus on collateral credit and transaction structure, preparing primary market investment reviews, timely surveillance of firmwide holdings, supporting secondary investment activity, engaging internal and external counterparties on sector related matters. The ideal candidate will possess a team-first approach to their work, contribute to cross-sector decision making with securitized markets and function as a mentor to junior talent within the team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and maintain property type views and investment preferences across the CRE landscape. Articulate preferred positioning across the investible CMBS opportunity set. Effectively communicate investment risk and appropriateness across the range of fixed-income strategies within the firm.
- Lead primary and secondary market investment efforts. Leverage external counterparty network to generate attractive investment opportunities. Combine sector wide preferences with transaction specific details to formulate investment recommendations.
- Collaborate internally with trading and other credit analysts to determine optimal capital structure positioning in the context of market risk pricing across the securitized landscape.
- Institute rigorous credit monitoring procedures and preside over timely surveillance for firmwide sector holdings. Communicate relevant information and provide actionable guidance regarding risk positioning.
- Manage relationships across the investment community to strengthen firm’s positioning within securitized products. Function as a subject matter expert across the firm, an effective resource for client engagements, and a brand ambassador to external counterparties.
- Provide thought leadership within the securitized team. Collaborate with peers to grow the firm’s securitized platform.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of relevant investment experience within CRE and CMBS. Strong familiarity across the various subsectors within CMBS. Established relationships with external counterparties.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in client engagement settings.
- Team mentality toward conducting investment work. Able to contribute to cross-sector decision making within securitized products.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Experience managing datasets and utilizing third party vendor services to conduct investment work.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting or a related field.
- CFA credential is desirable.
