Position Description
KKR is building out an enterprise data group to collect, manage, and harness the power of data across our diverse portfolio investments. Reporting into the Global Markets Operations team, this group will help ensure all KKR data is accessible, consumable, and drive the curation of insights across the organization.
In partnership with the Real Estate Private Equity business, the KKR Data Operations group is seeking an experienced data management professional to sit alongside (embed within) the Real Estate Private Equity Portfolio Management (“PM”) group to support their various database efforts, data quality management, and reporting needs.
This is an opportunity to assist in the creation, and ultimately take ownership of, KKR Real Estate Private Equity’s data management processes aimed at ensuring clean and quality data, which is integral to the success and growth of the business. Strategic, analytical, and collaborative, this team member will work alongside a small, entrepreneurial team to implement, maintain, and manage portfolio monitoring and reporting data as well as processes. They will become the admin and specialist of the various operational, financial, and ESG data platforms and drive strategic data mining initiatives alongside the PM team. In addition, they will assist the PM team in identifying broader data operations and analytics themes that influence portfolio level trends, risk management, investment decision, data governance, and reporting automation for the broader Real Estate Private Equity investment platform at KKR.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the operations, maintenance and enhancements of existing (and future) external (e.g., RealPage AIM & BI, ChathamDirect) as well as internal (e.g., RealHouse) data platforms
- Take on system and user admin role for relevant databases, acting as primary point of contact for any platform related issues and questions, and managing the oversight of each platform vendor
- Facilitate Monthly Data Collection from Operating Partners to collect data and ingest into the RealPage System. Work with Operating Partners and RealPage Team to solve data quality issues as they arise and work to streamline data collection efforts
- Drive continued roll-out of existing software suite to new funds/investments, increasing the scope of what is systematically enabled through these software solutions
- Implement and own best in class data governance practices; ensuring that data is well defined & transparently documented (what data exists, where does it exist, and how is it being used)
- Develop standards for scalable processes throughout the lifecycle of a deal with well-defined information properly captured throughout that cycle
- Collaborate with engineering and PM team to support and make recommendations to integrate external systems into the in-house system (RealHouse) and improve dataflow between external systems
- Point of contact for data-related questions and updates from various internal and external groups, delivering ad-hoc analytics to answer key business questions in a timely manner
- Assist the portfolio management team in organizing and presenting data in a meaningful way; preparing dashboards & reports in a scalable & and repeatable manner
- Drive and support development of advanced analytical capabilities
QUALIFCATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or other related fields; and/or relevant industry experience in financial data analysis – Real Estate experience strongly preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience including with an investment organization, bank, accounting group, or multi-strategy hedge fund working with reference and transactional data and/or financial analysis
- Strong technical skills in data querying & manipulation; must have advanced (expert) Excel skills and at least mid-level SQL querying abilities (selects, joins, etc.) – comfort with large sets of poorly structured data. Baseline Python Skills a Plus.
- Advanced analytical & data visualization capabilities (with proficiency in using Power BI or similar tools to support those analyses & data visualizations) required
- Understanding and/or interest in of financial datasets, asset management, financial statements, and basic accounting concepts
- Capable of, and interested in, developing a deep understanding of the business to play a key strategic role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented with strong analytical and quantitative skills, coupled with qualitative insight
- Collaborative and active contributor, with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Maturity and sound judgment, exhibiting an ability to thrive in cross-functional and cross-business unit settings
- Proven ability to manage demands of multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment, including ability to prioritize time efficiently and handle competing priorities while remaining connected to the details
- High level of intellectual curiosity, accountability, and drive; self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
