The Opportunity:
As a Principal, Fund Accounting based in our Suburban Philadelphia global headquarters, you will be responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of our Fund Accounting and Valuation function, including team management and administration of outsourced resources. You will oversee annual audits and ensure continuous improvement of processes surrounding financial reporting. Additionally, you will coach and develop reporting staff to ensure high-level performance and best-in-class capabilities for clients.
Your responsibilities will be to:
• Review and approve annual and quarterly financial statements, tables, and footnotes for 70+ private equity funds and feeder vehicles
• Implement and oversee accounting processes and system of internal controls completed by internal staff and outside resources
• Work closely with the investment and portfolio management teams to execute on fund management strategies with a focus on maximizing net performance
• Align with client and product teams to execute fund accounting responsibilities while managing LP impact and experience
• Oversee the review and approval processes for management fee and partnership expenses calculations and invoices,
• Manage all third-party administrators and vendor relationships pertaining to fund vehicles
• Work with Company department managers to meet goals, including corporate reporting deadlines, efficient management of investment fund lines of credit, etc.
• Coordinate tax filing process (quarterly or periodic withholdings for non-US limited partners (Forms 1042/8804) and annual Federal and state tax filings (completed by external accounting firms)
• Review and approve accounting positions in memos,
• Review valuations of investments and present conclusions to valuation committees,
• Develop and monitor annual department budget and forecasts,
• Present functional capabilities to clients and prospects, participate in periodic Back Office Best Practice events for clients and others
Your background will include:
• Undergraduate degree (B.A., B.S. or B.B.A.) in related field; CPA required
• 15+ years’ overall Fund Accounting experience, inclusive of 10+ years of private equity Fund Accounting (in-house or Big 4 preferred)
• Complete understanding of carried interest terms and calculations
• Accomplished at financial statement preparation and presentation
• Previous leadership of a Fund Accounting team, including multiple direct reports across different work locations
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to quickly build rapport cross-departmentally
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
• Detail-oriented and organized, with excellent analytical skills.
