We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Accountant with experience in high-net-worth individual tax returns, foreign individual tax returns, partnership, trust, and gift tax returns. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in reviewing and filing complex tax returns for clients with significant assets, diverse income streams, and intricate financial portfolios. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws, regulations, and strategies to optimize tax outcomes while ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
We’ll trust you to:
- Review and prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, including personal, partnership, trust, and gift tax returns.
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients, particularly in the areas of trusts, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather the necessary information to project client’s cash flow.
- Communicate effectively with clients or their designated professionals to gather necessary tax documents and provide updates on projections and filings.
- Analyze clients' financial situations to identify tax-saving opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Interpret tax regulations and provide guidance on tax implications for clients.
- Assist with audits and inquiries by taxing authorities.
- Stay current with tax law changes and proactively adjust strategies to benefit clients.
- Leverage technology to transform and streamline processes.
You'll need to have:
- 5-8 years of experience in tax accounting, with a specific focus on individual, partnership, trusts, and gift returns.
- In-depth expertise in handling complex partnership accounting and understanding unique challenges associated with partnership structures.
- Robust knowledge of federal and state tax regulations, particularly for high-net-worth individuals and trusts
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- CPA or Enrolled Agent designation required.
- Proficient in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a challenging environment.
- Experience collaborating with a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals and their families.
- Meticulous and highly organized, with a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
- Experience with international tax issues and expatriate tax returns.

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $150,000-$175,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.
