We are seeking a highly skilled Vice President – State and Local Tax professional with extensive experience managing state and local tax compliance, audits, and legislative analysis across diverse jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in handling complex tax provisions such as state apportionments, tax rates, NOLs, and audit defense, along with the ability to identify efficiencies and mitigate risks.
We’ll trust you to:
- Handle quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including state apportionment, tax rates, state NOLs, and related topics.
- Manage the income tax compliance calendar and ensure timely and accurate filing of state and local income tax returns for corporations and partnerships.
- Act as a state tax expert, responding to inquiries from state jurisdictions and defending tax strategies and positions claimed.
- Identify opportunities and risks, providing actionable recommendations to manage tax liabilities effectively.
- Conduct research and analysis to develop strategies for tax filing positions, staying current on state legislative changes to anticipate future tax impacts.
You'll need to have:
- 5-8+ years’ experience working with State and Local Tax, with exposure to multiple tax jurisdictions.
- Proven proficiency with OneSource software for state and local tax compliance and reporting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex tax concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Law is mandatory, with certifications such as CPA, MST, or MBA strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated capacity to collaborate across teams, combined with an energetic and growth-driven mindset, thriving in a fast-paced team environment.

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $140,000k -$170,000k USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.
