KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bain Capital is looking for an experienced professional to support the compensation program for our Capital Markets businesses globally. Capital Markets businesses include Credit, Special Situations, Public Equity, Insurance and Partnership Strategies. The Compensation Manager will directly support two to three of the Capital Markets businesses and provide support for the others as needed.
Day-to-day responsibilities within assigned businesses include:
Perform complex compensation modeling and analysis, financial planning, competitive benchmarking, compensation planning and forecasting, and manage the annual compensation cycles for assigned businesses.
Collaborate with other members of the compensation team, senior leadership, including various business unit leaders, HRBPs and members of Finance.
Provide guidance on annual compensation cycles, bonus planning, and carried interest grants as well as develop competitive offers.
Develop detailed compensation models and scenarios to support strategic decision-making and ensure alignment with business objectives, including, creating presentations and spreadsheets on compensation analyses for executive meetings. Ability to attend meetings and present when required.
Participate in the development and maintenance of competitive compensation matrices, ensuring a consistent approach to compensation decisions.
Assist in financial analysis and reporting related to compensation on the P&L, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term planning.
Work closely with Coinvest and GP teams on matters related to employee coinvest and carried interest awards.
Exercise critical thinking to make data-driven recommendations. Use technical and business writing skills to synthesize the results of complex analyses into salient points for senior leadership.
Recommend and implement solutions for compensation related issues as needed.
Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc compensation and headcount reports.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior compensation professionals, fostering team growth and development.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively across all organizational levels, while fostering strong relationships.
Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a hands-on culture. Demonstrated capability to meet high expectations for deliverables.
Experience in manipulating, managing, and analyzing data using Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, indexing, SUMPRODUCT, and creating pivot tables and graphs/charts.
Adept at developing and tailoring compensation strategies to meet the unique needs of various businesses.
Strong analytical skills, capable of extracting key insights from both quantitative and qualitative data to inform compensation decisions.
Excellent at collaboration with strong communication and presentation skills. Skilled in creating compelling narratives through PowerPoint presentations.
Focus on accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality outputs.
Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
DESIRED BACKGROUND/EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree required.
8+ years of experience in an analytical Compensation role, preferably in the financial services industry.
Experience with incentive plan design, equity programs, deferred compensation, and carried interest programs preferred.
Understanding of financial concepts (e.g., P&L, balance sheet) including experience with financial modeling.
MBA a plus.
