Description
The Research team at Preqin aims to maintain accurate, current, and thorough coverage of the alternative assets industry. This role, within the global research team, offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual with a strong interest in finance to focus on the essential support entities of private equity. This includes law firms, banks, fund administrators, and other firms involved in facilitating deal-making in alternative asset markets.
The Senior Research Associate will engage with service providers and advisors in the private funds industry to gather intelligence on clients, services offered, and key contacts. Maintaining high-quality data is crucial, with opportunities to contribute to bespoke data analysis for Preqin users, financial press, reports, and publications. Becoming a subject matter expert in the defined data domain, the role involves collaborating across Research teams and internal departments. Additional responsibilities may include executing ad-hoc data improvement projects, handling data curation requests, and providing training and support for new team members.
What you’ll be doing:
Engagement
- Leading outreach for our new service provider offering, focusing on software companies. Call and e-mailing these firms daily to obtain valuable, proprietary information that is used by our clients (and where required also conducting outreach to support the wider team focusing on law firms, fund administrators, investment consultants and other service provider types)
- Establish and maintain strong personal working relationships with key industry experts both locally and globally
- Understand and effectively communicate Preqin’s value propositions
- Utilize subject matter expertise to deploy and originate projects to enhance respective data domain
Data Collection & Process
- Locate, track and make use of a variety of online and public sources to gather relevant information on industry entities and events
- Update our service provider database with detailed firm profiles containing key information such as key contacts, services offered and market growth
- Oversight of India-based sub-team focusing on software companies, working in close collaboration with the team member(s) to ensure delivery of KPIs, maintaining best practices and development of SME
- Assist with data curation questions from internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain timely turnaround on BAU requests from customers or customer-facing groups independently
Data Quality
- Perform quality assurance for existing data and output from offshore teams
- Provide training and onboarding support for new team members
- Ensure others on the team are well supported to achieve KPIs and assist wherever appropriate to support the mutual success of the team
Projects & Initiatives
- Produce bespoke data reports for clients and press outlets
- Occasionally contribute to research reports, blogs and publications
- Support team members with ad-hoc research projects
- Execute data improvement projects, propose new and innovative ways to identify new data opportunities, improve team efficiencies, manage data expansion or data quality projects
What you’ll bring to us:
- 2-4 years professional experience; working experience in finance/alternative assets preferred/software services
- Communication skills, both verbal and in written materials, targeting an audience up to and including senior executives
- A strong sense of urgency, as well as comfort making a high volume of outbound calls daily
- Excellent research abilities; exhibiting persistence, patience, and a keen eye for detail
- Strong team player with the ability and enthusiasm to work independently
- Proactive approach to dealing with issues, investigating anomalies and a desire to get to the bottom of a problem
