DESCRIPTION:
The Market Data Associate reports directly to the Market Data Director in the Research & Market Data Services (RDS) department within Platform Services at Bain Capital. Our team provides best-in-class market data services and enables innovated research solutions globally for all investment teams and assets classes across the firm. This includes but is not limited to 3rd party data & research procurement, firmwide access & budget management, vendor selection & onboarding, contract negotiations, vendor risk, and partnering with the broader RDS Research team to support the investment due diligence process. You will be working directly with multiple investment teams, Finance, Legal, IT & Compliance stakeholders, and the RDS global research team in a fast-paced complex environment. This position is critical for maximizing the value of our market data & delivery of research services globally at the firm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with Corporate Finance team members and outsourced business operation support teams to oversee & QC invoice processing, e.g. cost allocations, payment methodologies, and prepaid invoice tracking.
- Develop and refine essential procedures and processes as business needs evolve and expand.
- Maintain and manage relationships with external consultants and key third-party vendors on new solutions, initiatives, and related agreements and invoices.
- Serve as a project manager involving key market data initiatives & strategic research initiatives.
- Managing the data procurement and information lifecycle needs across Platform Services and business units.
- Lead on alternative data acquisitions associated vendor risk reviews and use case support across the firm.
- Internally communicate compliance of risk and legal guidelines for use of data and research.
- Lead and coordinate requirements with Legal, Compliance and stakeholders during vendor onboarding process.
- Responsible for contract-related correspondence, documentation, reporting, inventory management, and budgeting in ServiceNow, Workday, and FITS (market data inventory management system).
- Manage firm-wide subscriptions.
- Point on RDS access chart and budget.
- Coordinate bank entitlements and serve as backup for RDS permissions.
- Budget forecasting & reporting, e.g. manage budget to actuals.
- Backup for access management workflow.
- Maintain and provide input on market data and research best practices & policies.
- Collaborate across various teams to help develop research processes and new solutions.
- Work proactively with global investment professionals and RDS team members to anticipate ongoing information needs and help identify opportunities for research collaboration.
- Other projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Able to work efficiently in a high-paced environment and support frequent changes or unexpected events while providing a high level of customer service.
- Ability to think critically, strong analytical skills & complex problem solving.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across different audiences globally.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy managing multiple projects and complex situations.
- Manage time effectively, multi-task, and meet deadlines with quality and consistency.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, project management, and problem-solving skills are critical.
- 1 - 3 years working in a market data, research or operational role in a financial or consulting environment is preferred.
- Strong Excel skills
- Undergraduate degree from a respected institution required.
- Eager to learn and innovate.
