Primary Job Function:
The Chief Technology Officer is responsible for leading Thornburg’s IT department and defining the strategic direction of its global technology infrastructure. This includes overseeing Enterprise Data Management, operational cloud services, architecture and engineering, applications, network, security, systems infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), cybersecurity, data privacy, technology risk management, disaster recovery/business continuity, help desk support services, mobility, communications, and vendor management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute an IT vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with business partners.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders across the enterprise and develop a detailed understanding of their issues, challenges, and opportunities.
- Maintain high standards of performance, including a high level of IT service across all systems, and to support collaboration with colleagues across the firm.
- Oversee and lead the firm’s A.I. initiatives to drive innovative technology solutions.
- Assess and optimize the IT organizational structure to meet the company’s evolving needs. Hire, develop, evaluate, reward, and retain a highly qualified team of IT professionals.
- Direct the execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
- Manage the firm's overall software, data, and Information Security budget transparently and effectively.
- Design and implement significant firm-wide initiatives, ensuring timely and effective results.
- Provide guidance and advocacy regarding prioritization of IT investments.
- Develop, implement, and monitor a strategic, comprehensive information security program to ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality, integrity, availability, safety, privacy, and recovery of information assets owned, controlled or/and processed by the organization.
- Ensure that effective information security/ risk management awareness and training programs are administered for all employees, contractors, and approved system users.
- Establish, monitor, and enforce information security/security standards and policies company wide.
- Work with business groups on meeting client’s needs with Request for Information and Request for Proposal initiatives.
- Work through required client and regulatory due diligence questionnaires around the firm’s information technology, business continuity, and security programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration or related field (accounting or finance); an advanced degree in a related field such as computer science, engineering or business is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience as a successful technology leader in the financial services or asset management industry.
- Can demonstrate a track record of success in developing and implementing a comprehensive technology strategy that is both aligned with and supports current and future business goals of the company.
- Ability to create a clear strategic vision for IT that supports business objectives and can execute on that vision; can flex readily to tactical as well; hands on approach.
- Familiarity and experience with the various model components and use-cases underlying Generative AI, Predictive AI, Agentic AI, etc. preferred.
- Ability to skillfully manage, develop, motivate, and direct others within a fast paced, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
- Proven ability to interact, communicate effectively and obtain creditability with senior level executives.
- Strong customer service focus and ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Project management experience.
