Operations Specialist
Position Description
The
Operations Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and
efficient operation of our asset management processes. This individual will be
responsible for supporting the daily operations, managing trade settlements,
and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will
have a strong understanding of fixed income securities and experience working
with insurance clients.
Setup Accounts and Subaccounts within Internal Order Management System and map across multiple platforms.
Monitor Trade Settlements, Fails and DK’s.
Daily Trade Clearance and Cash Reconciliation
Assist in general Operations duties within Fixed Income Group
Maintain an understanding of team expectations and company policies
Liaise with Portfolio Managers to help resolve portfolio exceptions and questions relating to trading activity.
Demonstrate the ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external individuals
Assist senior members of the team, helping with projects and implementing control procedures where necessary.
Reconcile data to ensure the internal system is updated accordingly.
Support a high-quality environment where excellent organization skills with attention to detail, combined with the ability to take complete ownership of issues, work independently with confidence and deliver to deadlines in line with expectations.
Participation in automation and enhancement projects. Participate and undertake testing, defect analysis and issue resolution during QA and UAT testing cycles.
Retrieve, analyze, and prepare data from custodian banks
Meet deadlines in an accurate and timely manner
The role holder’s actions impact most on their own work or that of their immediate colleagues within the organization
Perform function in line with established business controls
Qualifications
5 or more years’ experience in a Fixed Income Operations role
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent work experience
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with high attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to take direction, work independently and within a team environment
Detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Capable of multi-tasking in a daily, deadline driven environment, while keeping others well-informed.
Must have an inquisitive and investigative mindset to dig deeper rather than accept information at face value.
Solid working knowledge and experience with fixed income and equity instruments.
Ability to analyze complicated situations and work with senior members to develop solutions.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Prior experience with Charles River Trading System, DTCC’s: CTM, ALERT, TradeSuite and
SS&C Technologies: CAMRA preferred
