Our Chief Accounting Office team sits within the firm’s broader Finance function and is focused on corporate accounting, reporting and analytics. The team spans globally and consists of verticals in Financial Reporting, Tax Finance, Valuations, Accounting Policy, Transactions and Shared Services.
The Valuations Professional is part of the global team responsible for Private Equity portfolio valuation, as well as valuation-related exercises for Apollo’s public company reporting. The Valuations professional will also provide a range of key portfolio company statistics and fund level results to various groups at Apollo including Marketing, Legal, Financial Reporting, Controllers, Budgeting, and Investor Relations.
Primary Responsibilities
Facilitate the Valuation Process in the Private Equity segment – generally a quarterly process covering a wide variety of asset classes across several funds and investments
Develop quarterly mark-to-market valuations of the Apollo portfolio companies to determine the fair value used in connection with preparing financial statements and performance analysis
Independently value financial instruments and complex securities across the capital structure, including equity (common/preferred), debt, convertibles, warrants, loans, etc.
Assist in developing valuation models and methodologies for new investments and challenging methodologies and assumptions for existing investments, utilizing technical knowledge
Leverage and continue to develop a deep technical strength in the valuation of alternative assets, serving as a subject matter expert for the firm and sharing that knowledge throughout Apollo
Collaborate with investment teams to understand new investments and deal origination assumptions
Coordinate with deal teams, third party valuation firms and auditors to create accurate and timely valuations
Create summary materials that will be presented to valuation committees for review and approval of significant changes/events, valuation and market trends, and key judgments
Review and update Fund reports and Marketing materials sent to existing/potential investors. Present on valuation procedures and best practices to existing/potential investors.
Prepare documentation in support of compliance with SOX and external audit requirements
Perform advisory valuation services to various business units on an ad hoc basis
Ad hoc special projects
Qualifications & Experience
3-5 years of related work experience
Experience building valuation models (DCF, Comp Multiple and Option Models)
Knowledge of capital markets/ illiquid valuations (examples – private equity (common / preferred), warrants, bank loans, mezzanine loans ,etc.)
Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including streamlining processes
Ability to complete financial models under the pressure of tight deadlines, and apply modeling techniques to complex scenarios
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of Alternative Investment strategies and products
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
Strong functional background working with Excel. Familiarity with Capital IQ and Bloomberg a plus.
Finance, Valuation, or Investment Banking training program preferred
CFA professional designation or working towards, a plus

Pay Range
$110,000 – $130,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
