Position Summary
TCW is one of the leading global Asset Managers for Insurance clients around the world. In Japan, TCW serves multiple of the top Insurance players in both Life and P&C. This VP/SVP role will primarily be responsible for acting as a solutions specialist for Insurance clients in Japan.
The role will effectively function as a specialist working closely with the Insurance team, Sales team, and investment teams to execute on solutions and client service for Insurance clients.
Essential Duties
- Take the primary responsibility for the creation and delivery of solutions and client reporting and service to Insurance clients in Japan, working as the regional specialist of the US based Insurance Solutions team
- Develop an understanding of decision-making process of major insurance firms and how to influence them
- Build and deliver custom materials, solutions, reports, and spearhead ad-hoc client service requests in partnership with global TCW business partners
- Work closely with the Japan Business Development team and TCW clients to deliver solutions that are suitable for the regulatory and investment landscapes
- Assist in building new business in Japan
- Stay at the leading edge of the latest Japanese regulatory and accounting standards in the insurance sector, optimizing solutions for the environment
- Have a deep working knowledge of TCW investment capabilities, including, but not limited to, Corporate Direct Lending, Asset-backed Finance, liquid credit and equities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with degree and or course work in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 8-15+ years’ experience in the Asset Management, insurance, or investment consulting industries
- An understanding of investment products across the full spectrum (equity, fixed income, and credit alternatives across varying liquidity profiles preferred)
- An understanding of Japanese Insurance Capital Standard (J-ICS) and Japanese Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (J-GAAP) for insurers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English
- Strong MS Office skills, especially MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with Salesforce or an equivalent CRM system
- Prior direct investment experience is essential

Desired Qualifications

- Further education such as CFA desired
