ROLE OVERVIEW
The Tax Manager will work directly with the tax team on a daily basis. The Tax Manager will also work with other internal departments and external service providers.
Tax Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Work with Big4 Accounting firms to prepare & review partnership and corporate returns for 20+ funds & 10+ management company entities
- Work with external accounting firms to oversee & prepare various state, local, and VAT filings
- Effectively manage the tax information of BAM’s growing investor base
- Work with the broader tax team to review and interpret federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations
- Proactively interact with key BAM employees and external service providers to gather information, resolve tax-related problems, and effectively manage the tax profiles of the funds and management companies
- Design and document internal controls, policies, and procedures for ensuring compliance with tax laws & regulations as well as internal tax policies. This will require working closely with various BAM business units as well as gathering guidance from external sources
- Assist with tax planning and compliance work for BAM’s principal partners
- Research tax issues related to the funds, management companies, and principal partners
- Assist Portfolio Managers and Traders with real-time tax guidance on transactions and corporate actions
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Our ideal candidate will be someone with experience in the financial services industry who is motivated and driven . The candidate must be someone who has:
- Knowledge of tax issues associated with hedge funds, private equity, and venture capital
- Strong desire to work collaboratively across departments
- Maintains a high standard of professionalism in all dealings with internal staff and any external partners, clients and regulatory agencies
- Problem solving skills and ability to identify and implement appropriate solutions
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet/exceed deadline

- Outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree (CPA or MS in Taxation preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in a tax related role with large accounting firm servicing the financial services industry – hedge fund, private equity, proprietary trading, fund administration, etc
- Hedge fund experience strongly preferred
- Technology skills – Ability to work efficiently in Excel with a strong understanding of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF(s) functions. Experience with large data analysis in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx.
