Position Overview
Apollo is seeking a Principal to support the Apollo Aligned Alternatives Fund (“AAA”) in originating investment opportunities from Third Party Managers. AAA is Apollo’s flagship evergreen, private market fund that invests across private markets in opportunities that have equity-like returns, but with less risk and more downside protection than traditional private equity, which Apollo refers to as “Hybrid” investments.The AAA strategy was created for Apollo’s insurance business, Athene, and has a successful 10-year track record dating back to January 2015. The AAA Fund was established in April 2022 and was seeded with 130 investments ($10B of NAV) from the Athene Balance Sheet.The AAA Fund has grown to $20B in NAV and raises capital from large institutions and high net worth investors globally.
This role involves originating and helping manage relationships with Third Party Managers that may be sources of hybrid deal flow.The role will collaborate closely with AAA and Hybrid leadership to drive hybrid origination, focusing on external GPs.This position will develop relationships via direct outreach, attending conferences, networking with placement agents and the broader LP community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identify Hybrid strategies managed externally and help the Firm establish strategic partnerships
- Explore/identify new Hybrid strategies that could be launched internally and/or sourced externally (i.e. be the “eyes and ears” for Apollo on hybrid strategies outside of Apollo)
- Focus on GPs/professionals and segments not covered by Apollo’s current origination efforts, ensure coordination with Apollo teams on external relationships when there is overlap
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with other internal origination professionals
- Work with AAA and relevant Apollo investment team on new Hybrid investment opportunities
- Participate in and contribute to regular committee and department meetings
- Assist with additional ad-hoc projects and requests as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- At the minimum, Bachelor’s degree in sciences, math, engineering, or economics
- MBA, Advanced degree in quantitative finance, and/or CFA preferred
- 8-10+ years of professional investment experience with external facing experience
- Thorough knowledge of private market investing and experience sourcing investment opportunities from external parties (i.e. co-invest, secondary and/or fund investment experience)
- Proven success in developing, building, and maintaining relationships
- Ability to effectively communicate investment opportunities to internal investment teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, and team-oriented approach

$300,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
