OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a skilled professional who is passionate about developing talent to join its Learning & Development (L&D) team. The innovation-focused L&D team develops customized learning offerings to help the firm’s talent excel in their careers. This new role will use real-world finance experience to enhance professional skills and increase employee effectiveness across all levels of the organization, from entry-level staff to managing directors. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, engaging, and inclusive environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
As a professional development strategist, you’ll lead the strategy, develop content, and design creative, highly bespoke learning offerings to build foundational skills in early tenure employees and deepen those skills to address the nuanced needs of more senior leaders. You’ll draw from your own experiences to design skill development programming such as stakeholder management, strategic thinking, project management, prioritization, effective interviewing, and time management. You’ll partner with internal and external experts, including senior leaders, to identify developmental needs and best practices, design and deliver customized programming—ranging from group and 1:1 coaching, case-based workshops, and on-demand resources—and assess the impact of these initiatives within a high-performing environment. Depending on your expertise and interest, you may also facilitate programs and/or coach staff. Additionally, you will work closely with Human Capital (HC) colleagues in areas like Talent Assessment & Performance, HC Analytics & Product, and HC Business Partners.
