Position Overview:
Kayne Anderson Real Estate is looking to recruit an Analyst level investment professional to work within the acquisitions and investment management team in underwriting, structuring, and modeling prospective acquisitions, developments, asset management, and dispositions. The role will work on assignments across all the firm’s verticals.
The Analyst will be exposed to a high volume of underwritings and transactions. They will be required to come into the position with a strong real estate underwriting skill set. The high volume of underwriting and transactions will provide an exceptional opportunity for them to learn and expand their capabilities quickly. The most successful candidate will be a strong self-starter, have passion for their work, work tactfully to integrate themselves into the overall group, and will always be looking for an opportunity to learn from the team while actively progressing their assignments. The position will afford the successful candidate to learn through direct exposure to multiple asset classes and collaboration with all the business functions involved in a vertically integrated real estate operation while developing a broad range of financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills. Furthermore, the Analyst will work directly with the senior members of each vertical and interact with partners and outside parties.
General Position Responsibilities:
- Perform underwriting and financial modeling for acquisitions, developments, asset management, and dispositions, including discounted cash flows, monthly operating projections, joint venture structures and waterfalls, multi-layer financing, sensitivity analyses, and modification of existing models to accommodate unique deal-by-deal requirements.
- Research market data and other resources to support underwriting assumptions.
- Prepare Investment Committee Memorandums.
- Manage due diligence process, including third party reports, market studies, site visits, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate the effective closing of a transaction by communicating with partners, maintaining internal checklists, tracking outstanding issues, and assisting other internal departments (including legal, capital markets, and construction).
- Support verticals with refinancing, disposition, and recapitalization efforts.
- Engage, with support of Directors/Managing Directors, with broker community to understand climate of specific verticals & track sales data.
- Compile, analyze, and develop an interpretation on the status of real estate markets across the country. This includes a detailed analysis of competitive properties, sales valuations, supply and demand fundamentals, and demographics.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics or similar business-related field, or equivalent experience/education preferred
- 2-4 years related financial experience with exceptional analytical skills and a strong understanding of financial concepts
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- High proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other MS Office programs
- Prior experience or willingness to learn Argus and 3rd party research databases such as Axiometrics, CoStar, RCA, Capital IQ, and Green Street Advisors
- Masters Degree in Real Estate or Finance preferred
- This position will be based in the firm’s Boca Raton, Florida office
