We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Corporate Tax to join our team. This role is located in New York, NY- HYBRID.
BNY is hiring a finance professional with corporate tax and tax accounting experience. This director-level position is within the BNY Corporate Tax Department, which originates tax credit investments at the bank.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Oversee the tax and tax accounting aspects of BNY’s energy tax credit and affordable housing tax credit investments
- Evaluate and develop tax-efficient structures for investments, including partnerships, joint ventures, and other vehicles
- Support due diligence activities for investments
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with legal, credit and regulatory teams
- Support aspects of income tax compliance and tax audit
- Build and manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors
- Monitor and evaluate changes in federal and state tax legislation and other policy and regulatory developments that impact the company
- Demonstrate sound judgment in evaluating scenarios involving various credits and incentive opportunities
- Detailed knowledge of corporate tax processes
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of deliverables, which may include presentation decks, executive summaries, credit calculations, completed tax forms, supporting files, memoranda, and IRS audit responses
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Five years of tax experience, preferably within a national accounting firm
- Self-directed and curious individual with excellent communication skills.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $125,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

At BNY Mellon, Finance serves our internal clients by providing world-class accounting operations and control and decision support while instituting world-class change management Global Procurement is responsible for establishing the programs to acquire products and services for BNY Mellon by employing deep category knowledge and commodity expertise, coupled with an understanding of the needs of our businesses and business partner groups. The Corporate Treasury group is responsible for managing the investment portfolios and the liquidity and capital positions of the various subsidiary banks and of BNY Mellon.
