Role Summary
American Century Investments is searching for a Middle Office Operations Specialist to support all functions of onboarding/markets/derivatives operations, including but not limited to broker onboarding, market and fund opening, vendor user management.
This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, MO office.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Monitor for and assess impacts of significant changes in markets and take appropriate actions to include notification of Investment Management
- Responsible for security and currency account maintenance and onboarding, market documentation, research and review of new account and custodian setup
- Ensure internal systems and workflows are accurately set up to support markets
- Assist in the onboarding derivatives to new and existing funds, work with ICE/CME/DTCC/OSTTRA and Legal Dept, etc.
- Work closely with other teams within Investment Operations to ensure successful fund and account launches
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place, driving operational improvements and maintaining documentation
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, banks and other related counterparties
- Actively monitor market changes and anticipate what would impact the trade life cycle, documentation, taxation, etc. and ensure changes are implemented without disruption to market
- Maintain knowledge of market specific processes
- Communicate with internal business partners and clients
- Independently research sophisticated issues and contribute to special projects/performing unique functions with minimal direction from manager
- Maintain ongoing relationships with custodians and raise concerns appropriately to drive timely results
What You Bring to the Team (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business and/or equivalent related work experience
- 1-2 years’ experience working in Middle-Office or Back-office in a similar role involving custody or mutual fund accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel & Word
- Motivation and proficiency to drive personal development and improve current process
- Ability to review and analyze work, research and problem solve based on application of previous experience
- High attention to detail

- Flexibility to work overtime may be required with little advance notice to complete projects on time
- Appropriate coverage of primary responsibilities must be arranged prior to scheduled absences being approved
Additional Assets (Preferred)
- Knowledge or experience with Tableau, Alert, Bloomberg, Visio a plus
