your responsibilities
This Associate Director, ESG position creates the link between the Paris-based SRI (social responsible investment) team and the local entity especially respecting the restrictions and obligations imposed by German law and regulation as well as representing needs and requirements expressed by the international institutional investor base. The role serves as a sparrings partner for the management board, interacts closely with the European SRI team, supports on every asset and fund related ESG-topic including both Capex/technical and strategic topics. It is the main contact person for all internal stakeholders like e.g. Asset, Investment and Fund Management, Regulatory teams, investor relations. The role is a hands-on role which requires travelling from time to time as well as closest collaboration and sparring with the Asset and Fund Management as well as Fund Operations and the European SRI and valuation teams. The key activities include:
Across the European Portfolio:
- Monitoring of ESG requirements during acquisition, deriving ESG actions plans and budgets in line with DD audit recommendations
- Definition of ESG strategies, road maps and action plans on asset, portfolio and corporate level (incl measures like building certificates, consumption reduction etc)
- implementation of such ESG strategies in close collaboration with the fund and asset management teams as well as the European SRI Team; while keeping contact with regulatory bodies and local authorities to monitor (changing) requirements
- Local implementation of European projects such as smart metering, PV panels, data collection
- Monitoring of ESG property performance
- Preparation of relevant reportings on asset, portfolio corporate level such as GRESB, PAI Statements etc
- Moderation of the German ESG committee and participation in the European ESG committee.
- Development and deployment of best practices aligned with the European organisation
- Definition of training programs for the individual teams
- your competencies
- Graduated from Business school or University in real estate (with focus on ESG) or sustainability or similar
- High level of experience in real estate, building certification procedures, sustainability regulation and strong technical understanding of building structures and systems
- Knowledge of current ESG-related laws, guidelines and best practices
- Min. 5 years of relevant work experience in a comparable position, experience in a pan-European organization and/or German AIFM for real assets is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of all common Microsoft 365 applications (especially Excel and PowerPoint),
- Language skills: German, English, French is a plus
- You are self-motivated with strong analytical and communicational skills combined with goal-oriented working methods, a strong sense of team spirit and the willingness to travel; proven intercultural experience is a plus
