William Blair is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Analyst to join its Leveraged Finance Group, which is a fast-growing team that provides debt advisory and arrangement services for middle market companies across a wide range of industries and transactions including acquisition financing, refinancings, growth capital, and shareholder liquidity events. The Leveraged Finance Group works closely with each of Blair’s sector coverage teams as well as the other product-specific groups in serving the financing needs of the firm’s investment banking clients.
Execute in-depth analyses to support new business development, transaction execution, and the delivery of investment banking products and services to clients and prospects. Perform extensive research and financial modeling, apply valuation methods, and complete due diligence activities. Work closely with client staff to advance projects, gathering necessary information, conveying complex financial modeling outcomes, and presenting analysis results. Provide training and mentorship to less experienced staff.
Responsibilities May Include But Are Not Limited To
- Build advanced financial models and execute core credit methods, such as LBOs and covenant models. Effectively synthesize information to convey complex financial modeling outcomes.
- Conduct financial analysis, including cash flow modeling, debt capacity analysis, and sensitivity analysis and present findings and recommendations to internal teams and clients.
- Develop an understanding of macro factors related to client industries, investment banking products, and potential implications.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of debt capital markets, including market trends, key structures, and key players.
- Lead due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation of potential and live transactions.
- Research current and prospective client companies, comparable companies and transactions, and industries; monitor and research capital markets; update client and leveraged finance databases.
- Develop, produce, and deliver proposals and presentations to clients and prospects, which exhibit broad knowledge of IB product solutions and underlying components. Engage in the development of marketing materials that highlight the competitive advantage of William Blair.
- Identify improvements to processes and propose solutions to complete tasks more efficiently.
- Create relationships with clients and foster effective dialogue with finance and accounting staffs to facilitate efficient processes. Anticipate needs and challenges and provide seamless solutions.
- Act as “on the job” trainer for more junior team members, providing guidance and constructive feedback. Ensure senior team knows the valuable contributions of all team members.
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Prior investment banking or credit / lending experience required.
- Proven track record in university studies required
- Advanced financial modeling skills required. Build detailed, fully-integrated financial models to construct financial projections and test their feasibility, analyze the impact of proposed transactions on capital structures, cash flows, debt service requirements, compliance with and financial covenants, etc.
- Experience analyzing financial statements and related data to assess historical and projected financial performance for client companies and prospects.
- Required SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment.
- Committed to satisfying internal and external clients.
- Ability to manage expectations of senior bankers, other deal team members, and clients while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills.
A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range at time of posting is below. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits. Actual base salary within the specified range is based on several factors, including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, specific degrees and certifications, job responsibilities, market considerations and, if applicable, the location of the position.
This role is eligible for either a discretionary annual bonus (based on company, business unit and individual performance) and/or commission-based incentives.

$115,000—$115,000 USD
