Brown Advisory is looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented professional to join our Baltimore office as a Staff Accountant. In this role, your focus will be on the accounting, reporting, analysis, and operations of compensation related areas, including but not limited to Payroll, Equity, and Benefits. The Staff Accountant will partner with several teams within, and outside of, Accounting & Finance to book journal entries, analyze activity and reconcile accounts, prepare monthly, annual, and ad-hoc reporting deliverables, deliver business insights, suggest process improvements and efficiencies, and support the Accounting & Finance team in their daily operations. The ideal candidate will:

Have a positive attitude and the desire to provide impeccable support to Brown Advisory team members. You will regularly interact with team members within and outside the team, providing high levels of customer service.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, consistently delivering messages directly, concisely and with a balanced tone, on paper and verbally, formally and informally.
Be discrete. You should exhibit a high level of professionalism with respect to maintaining confidential information.
The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepare journal entries for monthly close of compensation areas, including the cost allocation of payroll and benefits expense.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure annual audit readiness.
Prepare compensation expense projections and run rates for monthly financials.
Assist with monthly management reporting on equity and compensation data and trends.
Maintain equity plan data utilized for the preparation of Board materials.
Assist with year-end financial statement audits and other regulatory examination requests.
Assist with the firmwide planning and forecasting process. Advise on expected balance sheet impacts of compensation activity.
Manage multiple data-intensive tasks while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of large datasets and assist with timely reporting.
Qualifications:
1 to 2 years of experience, Financial Services industry preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Strong analytical, problem solving, research, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
Excellent computer skills, particularly in navigating detailed system-generated source reports, downloading and analyzing data, and Excel functions.
Ability to handle confidential material with utmost discretion.
Highly organized and detail oriented. Able to prioritize and complete multiple time-sensitive tasks.
Ability to adapt in a positive manner to rapidly changing priorities.
Intellectually curious with a proactive mentality. Eagerness to improve skillset and grow.
Ability to work in our Baltimore office location.
MD Salary: $70-$77k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
