Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.
We are seeking a highly experienced Technology Lead to spearhead the design and implementation of our internal matching engine and Algo Wheel. This role is central to developing a cohesive execution platform that internalizes flow when appropriate, accesses external liquidity efficiently, and ensures best execution.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of a low-latency internal matching engine.
- Build and manage an internal crossing system that seamlessly integrates with OMS/EMS and execution workflows.
- Collaborate with traders, quantitative researchers, and compliance to define technical requirements.
- Integrate the platform with internal OMS/EMS and broker APIs using industry protocols (e.g., FIX).
- Monitor and optimize execution performance, latency, and fill quality through advanced analytics and feedback loops.
- Ensure high reliability, fault tolerance, and regulatory compliance across all components.
- Provide technical leadership across engineering teams, including mentoring, code review, and roadmap planning.
Qualifications: - 8+ years of experience in trading systems development, with direct experience in execution engines and/or smart order routing.
- Deep understanding of internalization, broker routing logic, and order matching systems.
- Strong programming skills in low-latency languages such as C++ or Java, with a focus on performance optimization.
- Proven experience designing and delivering smart order routers and high-throughput execution platforms.
- Expertise in FIX protocol.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a buyside or proprietary trading environment.
- Familiarity with FlexTrade OMS.
- Exposure to algorithmic trading systems and TCA (transaction cost analysis).
Salary Range: $150,000 USD - $200,000 USD
