About PSRS/PEERS
PSRS/PEERS is the largest defined benefit pension plan in Missouri with more than 315,000 members. We work in partnership with Missouri public school districts to provide retirement security for Missouri's public school teachers and education employees.
Most of our 173 employees work out of our main office located on the west side of Jefferson City, Missouri, the state capital. Our office is open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We provide state-of-the-art technology and security, with comfortable, ergonomic working spaces and collaborative areas throughout the building. About the Job
As a Benefits Specialist I, you will be an integral part of the Disability, Survivor Benefits, and Refunds team within the Member Services. PSRS/PEERS members rely on our Benefits Specialists when navigating major life changes such as disability or the loss of a loved one. Specialists must understand, analyze and provide accurate, complete and timely benefit and membership information.
In this role, you will analyze member records, prepare calculations for purchases, service and disability retirement, survivor benefits, and refunds. You will process applications and other member forms, assist in verifying and tracking benefit eligibility, and communicate with members verbally and in writing to gather required documentation.
You will use your keyboarding skills, mathematical ability and attention to detail to enter member data into our pension administration system, track and follow up on required materials, and support the timely completion of application processes. You will assist in the development and testing of system data for annual member and benefit statements and 1099R tax forms.
Job Requirements
Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED/HiSET equivalent and at least two years' office experience (substitutions may be allowed). Pension experience is preferred.
