Mesirow is seeking a highly motivated Portfolio Reporting Analyst to join our Institutional Real Estate Direct Investments team on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a cohesive and experienced team that has worked together for over 15 years managing diversified multifamily real estate portfolios through multiple market cycles.
Our team specializes in value-add strategies, aiming to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns by investing across all phases of the real estate life cycle. We create distinct portfolios of U.S. multifamily assets, thoughtfully diversified by region, asset type, vintage year, and metropolitan market.
As a Portfolio Reporting Analyst, you will play a critical role in fund-level financial reporting, investor communication, and audit and tax compliance. This position offers meaningful exposure to institutional real estate investing and long-term career development within a dynamic and growing platform.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare consolidated quarterly financial statements for investment fund entities and customized reports for individual investors
- Execute month-end close procedures and general ledger reconciliations
- Support quarterly investor reporting, including responses to investment consultant data requests and questionnaires
- Analyze portfolio-level operating statements and budget variances for revenue and expenses
- Assist in preparing annualized net income projections and fixed asset schedules for quarterly state tax filings
- Review and assess monthly excess cash flow distribution calculations
- Contribute to proration calculations during acquisitions and dispositions
- Assist with year-end audit processes and coordinate data for tax return preparation
- Prepare quarterly REIT compliance calculations
- Maintain and update quarterly valuation models for both investments and debt positions
Requirements:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of 3 years of partnership accounting experience, ideally in a corporate setting
- Exposure to real estate accounting and prior audit experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics SL and/or Yardi a plus
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and trends
In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the anticipated hiring base salary for the role will be between $80,000 and $110,000 per year. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, also provides the opportunity for a performance based bonus and the Mesirow benefit program.
