Job Description
The AVP, Tax Director is responsible for developing and executing the Company’s global tax strategy, ensuring compliance with international, federal, state and local tax regulations. This role involves both executing tax accounting and reporting requirements and leveraging external tax advisors to complete compliance related activities in a co-sourced tax model. In addition, this role provides internal leadership on tax strategy in areas such as mergers and acquisitions and transfer pricing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tax Accounting:
- Preparation of the income tax provision for each of the Company’s legal entities
- Review and assistance in the computation of quarterly partnership distributions of majority owned partnership in accordance with the limited partnership agreement
- Develop and implement tax processes and procedures and tax accounting policies to improve efficiency and reduce risks
- Analyze and research tax accounting treatment for business combinations, asset acquisitions, compensation arrangements and plans and other complex transactions
Tax Reporting:
- Coordinate and support independent auditors with respect to their audit of the Company’s income tax provision
- Preparation of tax disclosures related to the financial statements included in the SEC filings (10K, 10Q) as well as the Company’s various statutory reports.
- Assist and collaborate with the financial planning and analysis group on tax related analysis and disclosures in the quarterly earnings releases and investor presentations
Tax Compliance:
- Review of the federal, state and local income tax return filings and K-1s prepared by outside tax advisors
- Oversee the compilation and calculation of state apportionment data and blended state tax rates
- Management of nexus matters and ensuring compliance with all federal and corporate tax reporting obligations
- Oversee and resolve federal, state and tax notices and audits
External Tax Advisor Management:
- Oversee outside tax advisors to ensure timely completion of services provided
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure quarterly reviews and annual audits are efficient and effective
Tax Strategy and Other Support:
- Support corporate development on tax implications and due diligence of mergers, acquisitions and other business transactions
- Assist in the implementation of intercompany transfer pricing agreements
- Provide tax planning strategies related to federal and local jurisdictions
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Accounting or related field and seven to ten years of global tax experience with a focus on tax compliance matters and income tax provision preparation.
- Preferred 6+ years’ experience with a large public accounting firm and or related work experience that has multiple legal entities and local income tax reporting obligations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and work independently.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
- Ability to adhere to the Company’s workplace policies, including the current hybrid work schedule that requires 3 days in the office per week
The salary range is $150,000 to $205,000.
The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan.
