The Head of Infrastructure & Operations sets strategy, leads, and actively contributes to Hartford Funds’ infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and end-user technology operations. Managing a small, hybrid team, this leader balances strategic oversight with hands-on technical work to ensure operational excellence, continuous improvement, and alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate is a proactive, service-oriented IT leader with deep technical acumen in infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity. They thrive in a collaborative, metrics-driven environment, are comfortable working in a small team, and directly support day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead by example, fostering a collaborative, service-focused culture.
- Provide clear direction, feedback, and mentorship; manage conflict and nurture strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
- Establish and track metrics for all operational areas, driving continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.
- Develop and maintain IT supplier contract management processes.
- Infrastructure & Cloud Operations
- Actively participate in delivery, support, and troubleshooting of on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Implement best practices, automated deployments, and cost optimizations.
- Define and lead incident management processes for infrastructure and cyber events, ensuring clear and timely communication.
- Maintain and enhance cloud governance, resource utilization, and security controls; conduct periodic audits and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure strategy, documentation, disaster recovery plans, and ensure audit readiness and alignment with parent company standards.
- End-User Technology & Digital Workplace
- Oversee and directly support end-user devices, AV technology (including MS Teams conference room enablement), printers, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Ensure stability, effective utilization, and continuous improvement of end-user technology; engage with users to identify and implement enhancements.
- Maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap and facilitate communities of practice.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Serve as technical SME for cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead incident response, conduct security assessments (vulnerability, penetration, threat), and coordinate technical resources for cybersecurity events.
- Own technical components of information security program policies and risk management processes.
- Support regulatory inquiries, exams, and adoption of standard controls for applications managed by IT.
- Consultative & Strategic Engagement
- Partner cross-functionally with business units, Risk, Finance, HR, and other stakeholders to ensure strategies and services align with organizational needs.
- Present to clients during due diligence visits and provide consultative guidance on technology and cyber controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required and/or relative years’ experience
- People management experience required
- 5-10 years of experience within the financial services industry strongly preferred
- Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to address technical investment-oriented detail in a clear, concise, and compelling manner
- Experience with AV technology for MS Teams conference room enablement.
- Experience managing end-user support processes and resources.
- AWS architectural knowledge and cloud governance expertise.
- Strong cybersecurity experience, including incident response and security assessments.
- Ability to form and maintain strategic relationships across the organization and with vendors.
- Proven record of accomplishment of driving continuous improvement and operational excellence in a metrics-driven environment.
