Responsibilities
The PJT Partners Technology team is responsible for creating and continuously improving a robust and secure technology foundation that supports the firm’s business activities.
The Technology Business Management function ensures that technology investments are accurately tracked, governed and optimized, while managing all financial aspects of vendor relationships, contracts and spend. As PJT Partners’ technology landscape evolves, this function evolves as well, driving change through improved processes and smarter use of data.
We are seeking a Senior Technology Business Manager to join to oversee all aspects of Technology financial planning and vendor lifecycle management, including budgeting, accruals, contract execution, and invoice oversight. They will work in close partnership with the Finance function. As a trusted advisor to the Chief Technology Officer, this role will also act as a strategic business partner, driving initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, guide investment strategy, and strengthen engagement with senior stakeholders across the firm. Success requires a solutions-oriented mindset, financial rigor, and strong cross-functional collaboration across Technology, Finance, Legal, Procurement and other teams.
This is a high-impact role with direct exposure to senior leadership, offering the opportunity to shape investment decisions and lead initiatives that define how Technology delivers value across the organization.
Responsibilities include:
Technology Finance Management
- Own the end-to-end Technology budgeting process, including annual planning and quarterly reforecasting;
- Manage the governance and execution of Technology spend approvals;
- Manage monthly accruals and ensure accurate financial close processes;
- Oversee invoice validation and reconciliation against contracts and budgets;
- Partner with Finance to ensure alignment on accounting treatment and reporting;
- Track and categorize Technology spend across projects, vendors and cost centers.
Spend Reporting & Analytics
- Link financials to underlying Technology initiatives to provide meaningful insights;
- Conduct variance analysis and trend reporting across actuals, forecasts, and budgets;
- Develop executive-level presentations and insights that inform strategic decisions and influence senior stakeholders;
- Collaborate with Technology functional leads to round out business cases to influence investment decisions.
Vendor & Contract Oversight
- Shepherd new Technology vendors through onboarding and compliance workflows;
- Collaborate with Technology owners and Legal to validate key contract terms;
- Conduct pricing and cost benchmarking analysis on vendor proposals;
- Manage contract calendar to ensure timely renewals and renegotiations;
- Negotiate contracts and renewals with a focus on financial optimization.
Management & Functional Projects
- Manage a small team to scale and operate the business management function effectively;
- Leverage tools and systems to automate financial workflows and reporting while continuously looking to improve the processes and systems used;
- Generate data driven insights to enable transparency and decision-making with senior stakeholders across the organization;
- Support audit, tax and other cross-functional requests related to Technology spend;
- Lead departmental initiatives with CTO to drive departmental priorities around staffing, key meeting preparation, culture, etc.
Qualifications
PJT Partners seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition, qualified candidates will possess the following:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Technology Finance, Vendor Management or Business Operations;
- Proven ability to manage complex financial workflows and drive process improvements;
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills;
- Advanced Excel and intermediate-to-advanced PowerPoint proficiency;
- Experience with cloud billing platforms (e.g., Azure Cost Management);
- Familiarity with ERP tools (e.g., Workday) and planning platforms (e.g., Anaplan);
- Knowledge of procure-to-pay (P2P) systems or procurement workflow tools (e.g., Opstream, Coupa, SAP Ariba);
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Expected annualized base salary of $140,000 to $165,000.
This range represents the low and high ends of the expected annualized base salary for this position. The specific base salary received by any employee will be informed by a number of factors, including but not limited to, role level and scope, location, candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills and experience.
Base salary is one component of PJT Partners’ compensation structure. In addition to base salary, PJT Partners’ compensation structure may include additional rewards, incentives and benefits, including but not limited to, a discretionary bonus component.
