Pathway Capital Management, headquartered near Los Angeles, California, is a leading global private equity fund manager. Formed in 1991, the company develops and manages diversified portfolios of private equity investments on behalf of institutional and corporate clients.
Pathway's Hong Kong office, established in 2012, is responsible for all new investment activity in Asia, monitoring existing investments, and maintaining and developing client relationships.
Responsibilities for this position include the following:
New investments
- Member of deal team performing analysis and due diligence on investment opportunities primarily in Asia, but also in the US and Europe
- Responsible for a wide variety of analysis to support new investment process
- Interaction with General Partners, intermediaries and placement agents as part of an extensive and rigorous due diligence process
- Review and organization of data for investment analysis, performing appropriate quantitative analysis on the General Partner’s investment record
- Financial analysis and valuation of portfolio companies
- Maintenance of databases & files to support the investment process
- Assistance in preparation of investment analysis reports
- Support Asia GP market mapping
- Assist in managing Asia new deal work flow
Investment Monitoring
- Responsible for monitoring partnership/client portfolio performance (not limited to Asian partnerships) by performing:
- Quarterly performance analysis of partnerships including capital account reconciliations
- Quarterly performance analysis of underlying portfolio companies
- Reconciliation of cash flow data to partnership accounts
- Reporting of significant changes within clients’ portfolios
- Responsibility for maintaining databases that track performance
- Attendance at General Partner update meetings, annual meetings
- Production of General Partner updates distributed within Pathway
Client Servicing
- Production of monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports for clients
- Analysis of client portfolio performance
- Ensuring performance data fully updated for reporting period
- Verifying data integrity for specific clients’ portfolios
- Determination and research of significant portfolio events
- Preparation and distribution of monthly cash flow and valuation reports to custodians and consultants
- Assistance in preparation of marketing / RFP materials and presentations for developing new client relationships
- Preparation and distribution of quarterly client reports
- Variety of forecasting and other ad-hoc analyses
- Assistance in preparation of client presentations
- Attendance at client meetings/presentations
Environment Reporting
- Research and analysis for private equity environment reports covering Asia
- Tracking of Asia private equity and economic statistics
- Maintenance of databases to track investment and fundraising activity in Asia, including new investment pipeline
- Involvement in researching specific Asia private equity market environments including regulations, investment structures etc.
- Assistance in preparation of marketing / RFP materials and presentations for developing new client relationships
Qualifications
- 2 years relevant experience in blue-chip environment: private equity, accountancy, banking, asset management or similar.
- A first class academic background from a top tier university
- Intelligent and capable, displaying a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when completing tasks
- Ability to proactively take on tasks and work independently within broad policies
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to insure timely completion
- Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data, and add own judgment to the investment process.
- Excellent understanding of accountancy and financial analysis
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Good, proactive verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications.
- Willingness to learn and fit into the Pathway process
- Personable and presentable; ability to establish great relationships with clients and coworkers
- Ability to maintain professionalism at all times in a confidential environment
- Must be able to travel to US office for training and broadly across Asia for investment, client and marketing activities
