Role Overview
Longaeva is seeking a driven and resourceful Data Strategy Analyst to join our Data Team. In this role, you will focus on two core areas: conducting first mile analysis of new datasets and managing the full lifecycle of vendor contracts.
You will perform initial exploration, validation, and quality checks on prospective data sources, while also overseeing contract negotiation, execution, and renewal with external data providers. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will ensure that data sources meet our standards and business needs while collaborating with BAM's data sourcing team to identify meaningful insights for our investment teams.
Key Responsibilities
First Mile Analysis & Data Onboarding
- Perform basic data exploration, validation, and quality checks (using Python and/or SQL) on prospective datasets to assess their relevance and integrity before handoff to data scientists.
- Data Discovery & Sourcing:
o Partner with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Data Scientists to understand where data can add informational edge.
o In collaboration with BAM’s sourcing team, identify and evaluate datasets that can address these investment questions.
- Coordinate with engineering to onboard and provide access to data once contracts have been executed.
Contract & Vendor Management
- In certain instances, own the full lifecycle of data vendor contracts, including negotiation, execution, tracking renewals, and ensuring timely sign-off from all stakeholders.
- Maintain organized records of contract terms, renewal dates, and key contacts.
Market Awareness & Communication
- Stay abreast of developments in the alternative data landscape, including regulatory changes and new product launches.
- Share insights and updates with the team on market trends and potential opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- 2–5 years of experience in data sourcing, vendor management, or a related function within financial services, technology, or consulting.
- Experience with Python and/or SQL for basic data exploration and validation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the alternative data ecosystem and its application in investment management.
- Prior experience negotiating and managing data vendor contracts.
