Geode Capital Management, LLC is seeking an experienced
Scrum Master who exemplifies the values and principles of agile software development and can inspire and guide squads to achieve their highest potential. This role focuses on enabling teams - not managing tasks or timelines - by fostering an environment of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Geode’s technology team is passionate about fostering an agile culture that drives innovation and delivers exceptional value to our customers. As a Scrum Master, you will lead through influence, coaching squads and stakeholders to deliver valuable, high-quality products. This is a critical role in enabling squads to deliver innovative solutions that empower our clients and strengthen Geode’s position as a leader in financial services.
This is a hybrid work environment opportunity located in Boston, MA with a weekly in-office schedule of Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and remote work availability on Mondays and Fridays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach and Mentor: Enable squads to continuously improve agile practices, fostering collaboration, self-organization, and accountability for achieving goals. Share ownership of business outcomes with your squads.
- Facilitate Agile Events: Design and facilitate engaging agile events (e.g., Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives, Quarterly Planning, Lean Portfolio Management) that drive clarity, collaboration, and real outcomes.
- Remove or Escalate Impediments: Help squads identify and resolve impediments and escalate when necessary to maintain flow.
- Champion Agile Values: Model and promote the principles of the Agile Manifesto and Scrum Guide.
- Enable Data-Informed Decisions: Support the effective use of agile tools (e.g., Jira, Miro, Confluence) and metrics to improve predictability, flow, and outcomes - not for compliance, but for squad learning and adaptation.
- Foster Psychological Safety and Adaptiveness: Create an environment where squad members feel safe to take risks and share ideas. Adapt coaching approaches to meet the unique needs of different squads.
- Build Trust, Collaboration and Partnerships: Establish strong relationships with squad members and business stakeholders through effective communication, influence, and radiating information.
- Inspire Curiosity: Encourage a mindset of curiosity and the “joyous pursuit” of continuous improvement by consistently illustrating it yourself.
- Contribute to Agile Community: Share practices, mentor peers, and proactively create opportunities to grow Geode’s agile culture.
Skills You Bring:
- 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master with a proven track record in agile environments.
- Deep understanding and application of agile principles, values, and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban). Experience with scaling methods (e.g., SAFe, Scrum@Scale) is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead through influence and coach individuals and teams across diverse functions and geographies. Experience with formal change management, professional coaching (ICF or similar), and/or consultation is a plus.
- Proficiency in agile collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Miro, Confluence).
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, capable of guiding both divergent and convergent thinking; from ideation to decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels, even in ambiguous situations.
- Intellectually curious and passionate about learning, modeling continuous improvement, experimentation, and mentoring.
- Experience applying systems thinking and organizational agility to navigate dependencies and deliver value in complex environments.
- Financial services experience preferred.
