This position is eligible for incentive compensation and has a maximum incentive opportunity of 125% of base salary.
The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as a Senior Portfolio Manager (SPM) on the Investment Data & Analytics team.
The Investment Data & Analytics team enables data-driven investment decisions through 1) investment data strategy, management and research; 2) investment technology infrastructure, analytics tools, and initiatives; 3) investment data and technology governance; 4) performance analytics, measurement, governance, and benchmarking; and 5) business continuity and resumption.
Under the direction of the Senior Investment Director (SID) of Strategic Management and Operations, the Senior Head of Investment Data & Analytics is responsible for the management and governance of investment data, technology, performance and analytics across the Total Fund. The incumbent will manage a program to leverage investment analytics systems and data to create value, reduce risks, optimize portfolio management and enabling investment innovation. The incumbent interacts extensively with CalSTRS Senior Investment Staff and Executives, the Investment Committee, and external stakeholders and business partners.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Experience overseeing data and technology that drives investment strategies in alignment with enterprise goals and objectives.
- Experience managing a diverse and broad range of staff.
- Experience leading innovative modernization initiatives, system integrations, and digital transformation projects.
- Experience in effectively communicating complex information to a board or similar body, executive leadership,high-level policy makers, stakeholders, and team members.
- Ability to create a culture of innovation by championing new tools that elevate data-driven investment decision-making.
- Ability to offer succinct, value-added recommendations, exercise sound judgment, and make effective decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple asset classes.
- Ability to create and implement a strategic forward-looking operational roadmap.
- A high degree of initiative, professionalism, confidentiality, and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
An incumbent who possesses a professional certification in one of the following designations: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential. Only one 5% base pay differential is eligible regardless of the number of certifications.
