Senior Relationship Manager – Technology & Diversified Lending is responsible for originating, developing, and managing client relationships in emerging and non-traditional sectors such as technology, sponsor finance, and other diversified lending verticals. The role is accountable for business development, revenue generation, and relationship management while partnering closely with underwriting, credit, portfolio management, and treasury teams to ensure strong client outcomes and sound credit quality.
The position serves as a senior external representative of the Bank in targeted markets and is expected to proactively source opportunities, build a robust pipeline, and contribute to the strategic growth of the Bank’s lending platform.
Essential Job Functions
- Business Development & Relationship Management
- Originate new lending and deposit relationships in assigned sectors, with accountability for meeting individual production and portfolio growth goals.
- Develop and execute a proactive business development strategy, including prospect identification, calling plans, and pipeline management.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with technology companies, sponsors, investors, intermediaries, and other market participants.
- Represent the Bank externally through networking events, industry conferences, and professional organizations to expand market presence.
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned clients, providing ongoing strategic coverage and maintaining strong client satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to deepen relationships and cross-sell Bank products and services including treasury management, deposits, and investment services.
- Deal Leadership & Credit Partnership
- Lead transactions from origination through closing, serving as the primary business sponsor for new opportunities.
- Partner with underwriting, portfolio management, and credit teams to structure transactions that meet client needs while aligning with the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Coordinate preparation of client presentations, opportunity memos, and credit requests in collaboration with internal partners.
- Present opportunities to internal approval authorities as the relationship sponsor, addressing business rationale, client strategy, and relationship considerations.
- Work closely with legal counsel, underwriting, and loan operations to facilitate timely documentation and closing of transactions.
- Ongoing Client & Portfolio Stewardship
- Maintain regular client contact to understand evolving business needs, industry dynamics, and potential opportunities.
- Partner with Portfolio Management and Loan Servicing to support ongoing client compliance with loan terms, reporting requirements, and covenant expectations.
- Proactively identifying emerging client issues and coordinate with internal teams to support resolution and risk mitigation.
- Maintain awareness of portfolio performance within assigned relationships and escalate concerns as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, And Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent advanced commercial credit experience; advanced degree or professional certification (MBA, CRC, CFA, CPA) preferred.
- Minimum 8-12 years of experience in commercial banking, corporate banking, sponsor finance, technology banking, or related lending environment.
- Demonstrated track record of originating and closing new commercial lending relationships.
- Strong external market presence with established professional network in relevant sectors.
- Proven ability to develop and manage a pipeline and consistently meet business development goals.
- Experience leading complex client relationships and coordinating cross-functional deal teams.
- Strong understanding of commercial credit principles and deal structuring, with ability to partner effectively with credit teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- High level professionalism, initiative, and accountability.
- Ability to represent the Bank credibly with senior executives, sponsors, investors, and external partners.
