As a Senior Manager, External Communications – Financial Protection and Wealth Management, you will enhance and strengthen Guardian’s external reputation in protection, retirement, and wealth management. To do so, you will draw from your entrepreneurial mindset to scale a dedicated External Communications program focused on these topics, leveraging Guardian’s thought leadership, data, news, and initiatives to ensure consistent visibility in high-impact channels. You will partner closely with the broader External Communications team, as well as with Marketing, Brand, Social, and Enterprise Content colleagues, to ensure alignment across all of Guardian’s efforts. You will champion modern communications strategies, leveraging emerging technologies—including AI—to keep Guardian ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape.

You have:
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in external communications and PR, ideally in financial services
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills across multiple formats and channels
- A familiarity with various external communications and marketing amplification platforms
- Industry knowledge in wealth management, personal finance, retirement, and insurance
You will:
- Turn subject matter expertise, research, and data into compelling external communications campaigns and initiatives across channels, positioning Guardian as a recognized and trusted expert among financial advisors and consumers.
- Help shape Guardian’s wealth thought leadership strategy, leading execution across channels in order to drive visibility and awareness of Guardian’s products, solutions, and key business leaders.
- Assist in the development and coordination of relevant communication campaigns, including press releases, pitches, byline writing, briefing documents, talking points, key messages, social posts, newsletter development, and reporting, working collaboratively with agency and internal partners.
- Serve as liaison to reporters on media relations supporting the businesses. Build and strengthen key reporter relationships, staying current on relevant news outlets, industry coverage, and trends.
- Be the point person for media monitoring, including maintaining media coverage tracker and managing media relations inbox.
- Define KPIs and report on program effectiveness.
- Support all other responsibilities as defined by the team.

You will report to the External Communications Lead, Group Benefits, Client Solutions and Wealth Management, and Financial Protection and Retirement Solutions

This role is based in our Hudson Yards, NY office with 3 days in office and 2 days WFH
Salary Range:
$103,450.00 - $169,960.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
