San Francisco
Lazard is one of the world’s preeminent financial advisory and asset management firms.
Our people and culture make the difference. While global in presence and reach, ours is a close, collaborative community of just over 3,000 professionals. Lazard is a place of continuous knowledge sharing, skill development and relationship building, where professionals grow and succeed together. Our entrepreneurial culture, flat structure and embrace of individual differences, allow creative ideas, original concepts, and unique perspectives to drive our business forward — and for careers to take flight.
Many of the world’s leading investors — from individuals to institutions across the globe — have entrusted Lazard Asset Management. We pride ourselves on uncovering the best investment opportunities for our clients. The purpose of our asset management business is to help our clients invest for the future — whether it’s for retirement, to grow and preserve inter-generational wealth, or to benefit the organizations that make our world smarter, healthier and more sustainable.
We are seeking a fundamental equity analyst to join a systematic equity team that integrates bottom‑up understanding of businesses with disciplined, repeatable research frameworks. This is an investment role focused on analyzing companies, identifying the fundamental drivers that matter, and helping translate those insights into structured, evidence‑based research inputs used across the team’s systematic process.
We’ll trust you to:
- Identify which elements of a business are most relevant to stock performance and how fundamentals map to systematic signals or themes.
- Distill unstructured information into clear, sourced, structured insights that can be incorporated into repeatable research frameworks.
- Work within established systematic processes to maintain consistency, comparability, and transparency across company and industry analyses.
- Contribute to new idea generation by highlighting business model changes, inflection points, or patterns that may lend themselves to systematic evaluation.
- Use modern research tools, including AI where appropriate, to enhance information gathering, accelerate review of filings/transcripts, and ensure completeness — as an aid, not as the center of the role.
- Communicate findings clearly in writing and in discussions with the investment team.
You’ll need to have:
- 2-5 years of experience as an Equity Research Analyst or associate with strong financial‑statement fluency and an appreciation for repeatability and comparability in analysis.
- Proven ability to read a 10‑Q/10‑K/transcript and identify what is truly material for the business.
- Strong grasp of fundamental analysis, including how companies create value and which KPIs meaningfully reflect performance.
- Understanding of how fundamentals link to stock behavior and what consistently influences market reaction.
- Genuine curiosity about research, disciplined analysis, and building repeatable frameworks for evaluating companies
- Comfort organizing information into structured, comparable outputs.
It is a bonus to have:
- Familiarity using tools (including AI) to streamline research — emphasis on practicality, not engineering depth.
- Experience translating qualitative disclosures into structured fundamentals.
- Interest in building systematic‑friendly research frameworks (e.g., KPI libraries, business model taxonomies, stable company‑evaluation rubrics).
