The Senior Manager, Investment Tax (Sr. Manager) oversees cross-border trading tax matters for Dimensional’s global investment products including monitoring treaty entitlements. The tax scope will be primarily the US products but will also include international tax matters encompassing a range of entity types and jurisdictions. This role manages and oversees projects with internal clients and external service providers.
Responsibilities:
Investment/Fund Tax
- Manages Article 63 (EU Reclaim) process with external tax advisors to ensure timely filing with respective EU country and proper allocation of refunds received.
- Leads preparation and review of US and international tax surveys, filings and checklists.
- Recommends investment product solutions through thoughtful analyses for client interest in Dimensional’s global product offerings.
- Stays abreast of current tax, accounting and reporting developments in the asset management industry
- Researches complex tax matters and determines impact to global trade operations.
- Communicates effectively with internal Accounting/Finance group members.
- Works with both the sales and portfolio management teams in creating client responses to investment related or security specific inquiries.
- Collaborates with Fund Finance to ensure invoices are allocated to the appropriate investment product.
- Manages delivery of key portfolio management information to internal parties including preparation of Investment Committee materials.
- Creates tax educational resources for the firm as part of a value-add initiative.
- Manages and contributes to ad hoc projects, as needed.
- Provides analysis of the tax impact to the funds in relation to management of the portfolio and investment strategy.
- Reviews and provides guidance, as necessary, with final recommendations for any inquiries related to trading and/or corporate action or complex transactions and assists portfolio management including review of all supporting documentation requirements.
- Leads planning and maintenance of global regulatory initiatives, i.e., FATCA, CRS, and BEPS
- Represents the investment tax team and provides guidance as part of new product or fund launch.
- Partners with Head of Investment Tax in special projects related to both US and non-US jurisdictions.

- Assists in the annual and semiannual financial reporting cycles with Fund Finance with respect to the independent auditors and matters relating to cross border trading.
Financial Management
- Manages vendor relationship utilization.
- Ensures timely processing of vendor invoices.
- Coordinates vendor contract approval process with the Legal Department.
Qualifications:
- CPA preferred, but not essential.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Tax.
- 10-12+ years of experience in a tax specialist role in the Investment Management industry.
- Strong working knowledge of US mutual fund and ETF structure and operations regulated under the 1940-Act, Subchapter M of the Internal Revenue code.
- Exposure to non-US fund structures including Canadian, UK, Irish, and Australian fund structures.
- Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to articulate and present a clear point of view on technical matters in clear, concise, and meaningful communications for various levels of the organization.
- Excellent time management and organizational/project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Successful history of executing on strategic and operational initiatives
- Advanced Microsoft/Excel skills with ability to drive high quality financial presentations.
