The Associate Vice President of Social Media will lead the development of platform storytelling that brings Blackstone’s brand, ideas, and impact to life across social media channels. This role is responsible for evolving how Blackstone shows up in social channels through human-led storytelling and clearly ladders to firmwide brand and business objectives.
The AVP will own the end‑to‑end social content lifecycle, from creative concepting and editorial direction through execution, publishing, and measurement. This includes developing creative—shaping narratives, editing and packaging content, and guiding tone and voice—while also partnering with internal and external creative teams, agencies and marketing partners to scale high‑quality output.
This role will be expected to help keep Blackstone on-trend and up to date with platform changes. You’ll balance creative instinct with strategic discipline to drive engagement and spark conversations with our target audiences.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of social‑first content across formats, including short‑form and long‑form video, still photography, social graphics, and modular assets designed for reuse across channels
- Evolve the editorial and creative direction for Blackstone’s social platforms, ensuring storytelling is human‑led, platform‑native, and aligned to firmwide brand and business objectives
- Identify and activate emerging social trends, platform features, and creator opportunities that are relevant, credible, and additive to Blackstone’s brand
- Manage employee advocacy program, enabling employees to participate in social storytelling in a way that is authentic, compliant, and brand‑aligned
- Translate performance data and audience insights into clear, actionable recommendations that continuously refine content strategy and maximize brand impact
- Brief and manage creative agencies to produce high‑quality, social‑first content for organic and paid distribution
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to inform critical content decisions, using audience insights and platform knowledge to guide recommendations
- Maintain and manage global social media playbook and best practices
- Oversee social operations and governance, including publishing workflows, content calendars, and approvals
- Drive meaningful two‑way engagement across social touchpoints, actively managing conversation in comments, direct messages, and community interactions
- Supports the strategy and execution for executive/senior‑leader social profiles, shaping narratives, content cadence, and engagement approaches that build credibility, thought leadership, and trust
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in social media management with proven experience to own end-to-end digital storytelling
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a sharp eye for tone, voice, and brand consistency
- A true digital professional who understands what cuts through in social media today, and can thoughtfully adapt trends for a global asset manager
- Strong cross‑functional collaborator, comfortable partnering with communications, marketing, creative, legal, and senior stakeholders to inform content strategy
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in ambiguity

Expected annual base salary range:
$105,000 - $175,000
Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
