Position Summary
Reporting to TCW’s General Counsel, the Counsel, Head of Litigation and HR Support will lead a team that handles litigation, disputed regulatory matters, day-to-day HR support and guidance, employment agreements and separations, insurance coverage and claims, records management, and legal holds.
This is a critical, hands-on, role in the firm and requires expert understanding of state and federal court procedure and employment law, arbitration, management of outside counsel, and the insurance claims process. It requires the incumbent to contribute as a working manager and be a team player in executing any tasks required.
Essential Duties
- Determine and supervise strategy and external advisors when TCW is involved in litigation, arbitration, or disputed regulatory matters
- Promote practices and awareness across the Firm to mitigate litigation risk
- Advise senior executives on litigation trends and risks
- Provide day-to-day support and guidance to colleagues in the HR departments on employment-related matters, including employment agreements, disciplinary issues, and separations
- Coordinate insurance coverage and the insurance claims process for the Firm
- Coordinate the Firm’s records management procedures and controls
- Coordinate legal holds
- Supervise one or more support staff
Required Qualifications
- J.D. and member of the California bar
- 10+ years of legal experience, including setting strategy and managing internal and external resources in high stakes litigation, arbitration, or disputed regulatory matters
- Working knowledge of U.S. financial services industry regulation, employment law, and insurance

Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate would also possess one or more of the following additional qualifications:
Working knowledge of international dispute resolution forums and employment law
Experience designing and/or maintaining a records management program
Estimated Compensation:
Base Salary: For CA based position, the base salary range is $300k – $350k. This is an anticipated range only.
Other Compensation: Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus
