Position Summary
The Portfolio Specialist group at TCW is part of the Fixed Income group and is the primary liaison between portfolio managers, TCW distribution personnel, and clients. Portfolio specialists work closely with portfolio managers and liaise between the trade room and other constituencies, bringing first-hand knowledge of everything from changes in macroeconomic views to shifts in portfolio allocations/structure and performance attribution and commentary.
The portfolio specialist analyst team works closely with the portfolio specialists to communicate the macroeconomic outlook, related positioning changes, and performance to clients and others via monthly and quarterly commentaries and presentations, in addition to a wide variety of other tasks and projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the entirety of fixed income product areas and collaborate with portfolios specialists and portfolio managers to effectively inform clients and internal teams of themes and views within fixed income markets. Additionally, analysts on this team handle regular and ad-hoc client needs, while working with a variety of departments.
Essential Duties
- Read and internalize global market research and internal research as a foundation for crafting unique product and portfolio specific performance commentary
- Analyze portfolio attribution and effectively communicate drivers of performance in written commentary form
- Assist in creating product specific materials
- Collaborate with senior level portfolio specialists in direct support of client relationships
- Coordinate with other client related groups on specific inquiries or other requests for information
- Communicate directly with clients and consultants, as needed
- Prepare and deliver ad-hoc reporting
- Liaise with other departments (Sales/Marketing, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Accounting) to provide information in response to client needs/requests
- Identify ways of creating efficiencies/improving processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of professional experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills

- A self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently, as well as in team settings
- Well organized and able to prioritize multiple requests from a variety of sources
Desired Qualifications
- CFA Charterholder or candidate preferred
- Solid working knowledge and understanding of capital markets and the asset management business
- A high-level understanding of fixed income markets
- Excellent client service and analytical skills
Estimated Compensation:
Base Salary: For CA based position, the base salary range is $100k - $120k. This is an anticipated range only.
Other Compensation: Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus
