Job Summary
The Product Manager - Data Solutions role is responsible for the product evolution of the Allvue data platform and BI solutions which will be used by all Allvue clients globally. This role reports directly to the Director, Product Management of Data Solutions. The main objective of this role is to maximize the sales and market share of the product line. This is expected to be achieved by regular contact with customers and prospects to understand their needs, prioritizing tasks to be delivered according to the roadmap and communicating with the engineering team to ensure the product is delivered on time, with high quality and according to customer expectations
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams that support our data platform, APIs and BI solutions. These teams consist of product managers, product owners, business analysts, and software engineers and architects. Additional interaction and planning with all product teams that utilize the data solutions is critical to this role.
- Engage with data platform architecture and engineering teams to provide the product/market guidance and requirements for the data platform architecture and key functional components of the platform: data ingestion, data standardization, metadata management, data storage, data transformation and derivation, and data extraction via programmable interfaces.
- Engage with clients, product and UX teams to conduct discovery into data product and platform capabilities to ensure an “outside - in” perspective is incorporated into product deliverables.
- Champion ongoing competitive, market, and user research to ensure product decisions are based on sound use of both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Assist Director of Product Management to define and communicate a product roadmap and commercial models that deliver products and features and drive revenue growth through strong positioning and differentiation.
- Ensure that business goals are met and allow us to reveal powerful usage insights and drive strategic decision-making for customers and the industry.
- Collaborate with key functional stakeholders (including sales, marketing, customer experience, delivery, support, engineering, and finance) to establish product plans, pricing frameworks, business cases and go-to-market plans for platform solutions and new reporting solutions.
- Support sales and other customer-facing teams in high-value meetings with prospects and customers.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the alternatives market, specifically around front and middle offices processes to capture, report, and analyze portfolio data.
- Familiarity with customer personas, pain points and needs for various PE/VC deal team and portfolio management groups.
- Familiarity with ESG data capture and regulatory reporting requirements
- Ability to use research and market data to support product goals.
- Ability to work with other members of Front/Middle and Back office product teams to prioritize features across product verticals to enhance the overall Allvue product.
- Assess and analyze competitive products in the alternatives space and understand where our products add value.
- Develop product lines and appraise new ideas for market viability.
- Prioritization of milestones and tasks with engineering team(s)
Requirements
- Extensive experience providing product direction and strategy to meet business, market and user needs
- Proven product management experience building and launching new data platform and/or data and analytics products and services; deep understanding of technologies and architectures required to build and support a scalable and very flexible solution that can ingest nearly any type of data, both structured and unstructured, from any source. Business case development and P&L experience is a plus.
- Expertise with metadata management and metadata-driven data transformation
- Proven Go to Market and product launch success and collaboration with internal functions such as marketing, sales, and delivery teams.
- Strong commitment to customer advocacy and success
- Experience with delivery of an enterprise product portfolio using Agile-Scrum development methodologies; passionate about the role and contribution of product managers, BA’s, and UX designers in an Agile development environment
- Extensive experience conducting focus groups and user research, using best practices
- Successful track record in collaborating across organizational functions and driving cross-functional initiatives
- Experience prioritizing customer requirements, working with stakeholders and internal teams to define market opportunities and business plans in support of company goals
- Strong operational mindset, decisive, “get it done” mentality
- Excellent product evangelism and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment where handling pressure and achieving deadlines are normal
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- High integrity person who can build productive, long-lasting relationships at all levels
- Exceptional listening skills, attention to detail, and clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to distill and translate advanced financial and technical topics into easily communicable business concepts for execution by our Engineering team.
- Fluency in financial jargon and ability to communicate effectively with business users.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in finance or financial technology
