Who We Are Looking For
The Investment Portfolio Team, a unit of Global Treasury, plays a critical role in managing the bank’s ~$100 billion investment portfolio in order to generate income and meet State Street Bank’s liquidity and collateral needs, pursuant to the firm’s overall balance sheet strategy.
The global investment portfolio team is comprised of portfolio managers, traders and credit personnel across the U.S., Europe, India and Australia.
The candidate will be part of the portfolio management team, working as a Fixed-Income Quantitative Portfolio Analyst / Junior Portfolio Manager to help portfolio managers and traders hone their market views and leverage data to provide them with timely and accurate reporting related to the investment portfolio.
This is a visible role and the individual is expected to collaborate effectively within the team and across organizational functions including Finance, Treasury, Risk, and IT.

What You Will Be Responsible For
The Quantitative Portfolio Analyst /Jr PM role will join the Investment Portfolio team under the head of Agency MBS/CMBS. Your primary responsibility will be to build upon our vision of creating “One Source of Truth” to all of our analytics and data. You will also be responsible for following and analyzing trends in the MBS market as well as utilizing prepay models and Bloomberg data to generate S-Curves, stratify spec stories within our holdings, and define relative value within the broader sector.
You will help the broader portfolio management team in their mission to optimize key risks, such as duration, convexity, spread, and liquidity in all our fixed income sectors. You will also be a key contributor to telling our story and decomposing our actions in reporting and presentations to senior management and other stakeholders within Treasury.
Main Responsibilities Include
- Develop a relative value outlook on US Agency RMBS and CMBS and derive market insight and a forward looking view within responsible sectors to guide the investment process
- Work with the head of MBS to develop a market view for various MBS structures such as pass-throughs, specified pools, and CMOs; leveraging YieldBook and Bloomberg
- Working to develop and update regular portfolio reports, including holding and activity reporting, broker relationship data, and macro-economic dashboards
- These reports will not only be used by the portfolio management team to optimize their own investment strategy, but also leveraged in ad-hoc management requests as well as periodic strategy updates to senior management
- Responsible for performance attribution against our neutral benchmark
- Develop and maintain our purchase plan to update broader Treasury and FP&A on both an ad-hoc and regular basis, of our trading activity and current investment strategy
- Ensure investments are in line with volumes and metrics specified within each sector’s investment strategy, updating and maintaining the purchase plan and progress against it
- Utilizing your deep understanding of macroeconomics and market data to translate these insights into actionable recommendations for portfolio managers and traders as it relates to their portfolio risk exposures
- Responsible for monitoring recommending strategic changes/trades in line with markets movements
- Team player who must show the willingness to work with global teams across time zones
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- BS from a quantitative discipline, economics or finance degree
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation building skills in PowerPoint
- Excellent analytical skills with an innovative and solution orientation approach to problems, with experience in leveraging advanced Excel workbooks, Python, and Tableau
- Previous relevant fixed-income experience at a bank or asset manager
- Knowledge of interest rate and prepayment modelling fundamentals
- Experience with Agency MBS and Prepay models preferred, specifically YieldBook and Bloomberg
- Knowledge and experience of portfolio optimization in light of the entire balance sheet’s duration and interest rate sensitivity would be a positive.
- High level working experience with database and programming languages such as Python, R and Tableau

Salary Range
$110,000 - $185,000 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
