Barclays Capital Inc. seeks Financial Analyst, Research in New York, New York (multiple positions available):
- On behalf of a global financial services organization research business, conduct market fixed-income research and financial analysis with a focus on the U.S. residential mortgage market.
- Perform in-depth analysis of relative value trading strategies, prepayment speeds, default risk, hedging techniques, and regulatory developments in agency and non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).
- Produce research publications highlighting relative value, trade ideas, and technical and fundamental aspects affecting the mortgage market.
- Support senior sector analyst, external clients, trading desk, risk department, and modeling functions with ideas, data, and ad-hoc analysis pertaining to MBS.
- Create presentations and develop and maintain relationships with external clients.
- Use specialized software to retrieve data from the pool- and loan-level mortgage databases to conduct valuation exercises.
- Up to 10% of time spent on fully reimbursable business travel across U.S. to meet with clients.
Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $173,555 per year
Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $175,000 per year
The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role
To provide financial expertise and support to various departments and business units within the organisation by the gathering, analysis and interpretation of financial data to inform investment decisions, assess financial risks, and support strategic planning.
Accountabilities
- Evaluation of investment opportunities and potential risks through in-depth research on companies, industries and market trends, and preparation of investment recommendations and reports for investment committees.
- Preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts to inform strategic planning and decision making.
- Monitoring financial risks and provision of regular reports to senior colleagues and the board of directors.
- Collection, analysis and interpretation of financial data to prepare financial reports, dashboards and presentations conveying financial insights for stakeholders.
