Purpose and Job Summary:
The Business Systems Analyst (“BSA”) supports the Senior Business Systems Analyst (“SBSA”) in maintaining the applications used to manage fund structures and improve and develop applications that assist company processes. The BSA will provide support for application enhancements and will play a key role in the design, testing and implementation of new IT solutions and reports to improve Investment Management’s processes and portfolio analysis capabilities. The BSA will support the Fund Management Team in meeting the investment objectives of each fund for its investors by providing various analysis and support the Fund Managers with portfolios of Affordable Housing Real Estate Funds. Participate in activities that enable preservation of the value of investor equity and the stream of benefits associated with the investment. This position is Boston-based.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Senior Business Systems Analyst to collaborate with IT to translate new processes and portfolio analysis initiatives into application-based solutions. This includes managing project requirements, scope, testing and implementation.
- Contribute to Fund Management annual goals as well as to long term team initiatives, including participating on special projects, system and database enhancements and new and existing reports with IT.
- Assist in improving the team’s management of portfolio-wide data to improve portfolio analysis and streamline data generation and reports.
- Collaborate with other BF departments on an as-needed basis to support the overall management of the portfolio.
- Work with the Fund Managers to prepare and maintain long-term projections of capital installments, tax credit and tax loss delivery, cash distributions, and update corresponding investor benefit schedules.
- Assist Fund Management with annual tax return process, which includes reviewing and analyzing Federal and State partnership tax returns and internal tax reports.
- Monitor the performance of property investments and address discrepancies in conjunction with the preparation of quarterly reports to corporate investors.
- Assist in the management and enhancement of IT applications used to execute business processes for BF’s fund portfolio, including but not limited to Allocation Management, Investor Capital Management, and Fund Reserves.
- Assist with time sensitive projects such as investor presentation materials, compilation of due diligence items and hand off materials related to fund investment closings, and ad hoc requests.

Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate or related discipline, preferred
- Interest in real estate and/or affordable housing, a plus
- Familiarity with Partnership structures and/or Financial Statements, a plus
- Highly attentive to detail
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment; pitching in wherever needed to achieve team objectives
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in time sensitive situations while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Ability to balance multiple projects while using critical thinking and creative problem-solving
- Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Power BI, a plus
- Proficient in financial analysis and spreadsheet modeling in MS Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with peers, senior management and investors
- Self-starter with an analytical mindset who seeks out process improvements
