Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting professional to join our Corporate Finance team at Magnetar. As a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager, you’ll be part of a growing team and will play a key role in revamping processes pertaining to key business elements, including complex, reporting, and best-practices around working with team constituents. This person should be a self-starter and will be expected to take initiative around ad hoc analysis and other improvements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a high degree of visibility into the workings of the firm.
- Monitor cash receipts for completeness and follow up on outstanding revenue items.
- Maintaining the books and records of Magnetar’s management company entities
- Participate in audits throughout the year.
- Prepare annual financials, quarterly reporting and work with the team to provide necessary audit support.
- Coordinating with other groups within Management Company Finance and the firm to produce deliverables and create efficiency in internal processes
- Assisting in the preparation of annual and quarterly reporting including any necessary filings, including a NY Commercial Rent Tax Return, Use Tax Filing, UK VAT filing with HRMC and other Passthrough and State Tax filings etc.
- Develop reporting as needed and provide to management on a regular basis.
- Various other tasks as needed, including ad-hoc analysis.
Qualifications
- This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, plus 5-10 years of professional experience as an Accountant or related role.
- CPA required.
- Must have professional experience with the following:
- Conducting financial audits
- Using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, NetSuite general ledger systems and Concur to prepare financial reports
- Completing regulatory reporting requirements
