About This Role
BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM) brings together BlackRock’s index equity, index fixed income, global trading, securities lending, cash management, ETF markets, and financing and financial resource management businesses to deliver investment, trading, financing and risk management excellence for clients every minute of every day.
Responsibilities
As part of the Global Markets Relationship Management team within BGM, the candidate will be responsible for helping lead BlackRock’s external counterparty strategy and overall relationship management efforts with the firm’s key external partners (banks, broker-dealers, and other market participants). More specifically, the candidate will be responsible for the quality and timely execution of the following activities:
Senior Relationship Management
- Support ongoing relationship management efforts with external market counterparties as well as other market participants and serve as the key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct periodic/ad-hoc relationship reviews, incl. ongoing analysis of change in the overall relationship dynamic and commercial activities
- Provide support to GEC and relevant senior management for all counterparty related meetings and events, incl. significant production of briefing memos and data requests
- Represent global markets and investments functions at enterprise level summits with key strategic partners, incl. relevant c-suite engagements
Strategic Counterparty Reviews
- Support all aspects of the formal bi-annual counterparty review meetings with our top counterparty partners and respective senior management
- Oversee production of the overall reporting framework and related processes and partner closely with trading, analytics, and reporting teams to enhance/improve the reporting regime
- Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data to understand trends across asset classes and counterparties as well as drivers of significant changes
- Develop full set of materials to be reviewed in the meetings and lead execution of all follow-ups throughout the course of the year
Key Business Initiatives
- Manage and/or facilitate business critical growth and development initiatives related to counterparties across the entire markets and investments platform
- Assist in managing all aspects of the securities financing relationship w/ counterparties, incl. enhancement of reporting & analytics as well as incorporating broader relationship dynamics to specific business level engagements
- Partner with relevant teams across the entire firm to continue to help drive stronger partnership and participation around BlackRock’s growth engines with external counterparties, incl. but not limited to: ETFs, private markets, and technology
Diverse Broker Program
- Assist in managing all aspects of BlackRock’s diverse broker program in partnership with Global Trading and other relevant businesses
- Manage individual diverse broker relationships and partner with internal teams to ensure continued growth in overall relationship
- Partner with client businesses to ensure appropriate coverage and monitoring of key sensitive client accounts w/r/t diverse broker utilization and partnerships
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in financial services with knowledge of trading and financing functions; a strong institutional knowledge of BlackRock and Aladdin is an advantage
- Solid understanding of financial markets, including equities, fixed income, and securities financing; experience in external relationship management is an advantage
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of data
- Strong executive presence, strategic communication, and interpersonal skills with an ability to write/deliver presentations
- Ability to coordinate amongst different levels/organizations at the firm; experience working with senior management/c-suite is an advantage
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills including ability to function effectively within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- High level of self-motivation with ability to own and drive multiple projects at once
- Sound judgment, professionalism and a high awareness of the importance of discretion/confidentiality
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or related field
- Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
